What a wonderful place to spend a week. Come eat some great food, spend time in the many pools they have or take part in a tour of the vast wildlife and forest reserve. All inclusive option was a plus!
This place was wonderful! This place had a restaurant, a bridge of some historic background, a river, etc. This place was a 10 out of 10 near Jaco, Costa Rica. The staff was amazing and friendly. Near a lot of things to see and discover if you are a tourist! One of the best stays in Costa Rica for the price!
This hotel is such a gem! Great value for the price. We stayed with our two young children (6 and 8 years old). It is conveniently located with plenty of parking. Absolutely loved the grounds and walking to breakfast each morning and taking a dip in the pool every afternoon. Would love to stay here again.

It was beautiful and had wonderful food, staff was very friendly and acommadating. Water was inconsistent only one day but otherwise was working. I would recommend this for sure!
Room was below average, no hot water, no water one morning. The buffet is mid/poor. Prices are fine. The staff was friendly.
The grounds and trail are magnificent!
I loved the staff especially Susana, Adrian, and José...cause they made it absolutely amazing hands down. The store lady Eyleen Loria Sanchez...she was very sweet and friendly, and last but not least Daniela made the stay better with her friendliness. Food was amazing easy 30/10! All in all best expectation and experience I've had!

Great staff!! ask for a room near the pool & restaurant. The treehouses are far away (not in a good way) and very hot.
Have stayed here before several times and they have done and are continuing to do a lot of improvements. The entire staff from checking in , kitchen and wsit staff, grounds crew have all been very friendly and efficient. The grounds crew does a fantastic job of keeping the jungle and it's critters from literally taking over. There is a lot of wildlife to be seen just walking around and exploring the grounds. The food and beverages have all been very good. I'm staying in 1 of the 2 Tree House rooms and would higjly recommend choosing these rooms. Their balcony"s literally look over the Tarcolito stream and the jungle across the stream is alive with squaking Parrots and Macaws. Truly one of my favorite spots in Costa Rica.
Picturesque lodgings surrounded by the rainforest. Wildlife roaming the property. Friendly staff. Excellent rooms. Small swimming pools but very clean. As in the rest of Costa Rica it is difficult to obtain transportation to nearby places on your own if you are not on a tour. Overall we had a wonderful stay
Fabulous place. Very clean. Staff very courteous and helpful. Only drawback open air dining, while beautiful and clean draws lots of flies and other insects. Fans turned on would have helped. Butterflies and poison dart frogs, iguanas and pretty birds. Loved it. Very worth the price.
Very clean and comfortable. Authentic Costa Rican experience! All-inclusive resort for locals but our reservation did not include meals and it was unclear if continental breakfast was included or not. Either way, the 6am breakfast was not what we think of as continental and it didn't appear open. On-site dining was not as good as other places we have stayed. Would have liked to explore the grounds more but we stayed one (rainy) afternoon and night on our way to the airport for departure. Promising, and perhaps will give it another try.
We paid a premium for the treehouse room. Looks great from the outside and it is a huge empty room, with a really comfy high bed which was great but the standard size air con unit couldn’t deal with the size of the room and it remained stuffy and hot inside. This in mind, a fridge would also have been great to keep food and drink fresh. With the size of the room it would have been great to have some shelves or ledges to put luggage on rather than stoop down to the floor to access your bag - obviously this is only if you do not want to unpack everything as their was a drawer. The treehouse was also at the far end of the complex, so far from reception, restaurant and pool it required a drive - which is fine, but there was very little parking spaces available. One could always walk as it is not that far but you would get eaten alive by the mozzies on the way there and back. For the price, you would expect a full compliment of toiletries rather than just a single 2in1shower gel and a small soap packet. The towels were changed every day which will have to mark down the eco friendliness too. We stayed three nights and the promised breakfast buffet was only available on the last day - I guess because there was a coach party arrive and the other days there was not enough guests to warrant the buffet. The provided portions on the non buffet days were slightly inadequate. Other than that, it is a beautiful, tucked away, quiet little complex.

Good jungle setting and pleasant place
Overall Villa Lapas Jungle Resort was a good place to stay. We had 2 rooms with breakfast, but did not pay for the all inclusive stay because we are vegetarian and don’t drink alcohol.
Positives: 1. Front reception staff, restaurant, and housekeeping are all very nice. 2. The setting is beautiful and well designed facilities. 3. The playground was great for our grandson. This was a huge plus. 4. When termites invaded our room the staff helped clean it and gave us a different room nearby. 5. Breakfast was really good! We loved having local food available every morning. 6. Parking is free and available, usually near the rooms.
Negatives. 1. Hot water was inconsistent in both rooms we used. 2. Everything costs extra. We were quoted 29 USD per person to eat lunch or supper. 3. The bridges trail is locked unless you pay a 30 USD fee to have a guided tour. This was a huge disappointment to us. We hike a lot as a family and selected Villa Lapas because of the chance to do some hiking together on the property. It didn’t seem right to charge hotel guests 30 USD per person to go on a hike on hotel property. 4. I’m a birdwatcher but found bird guides outside much more reasonable than the quote the hotel mentioned for me to use the one who comes to the property.
Overall a good stay was good and we enjoyed our trip. We used Viator to book tours in the area, each tour was excellent.
