About this property
Wapiti View Cabin + Hot Tub + EV + 28min Yellowstone
There's something about the Wapiti View Cabin that makes you feel extra connected to your friends and family. Kind of like those herds of wapiti, or elk, that cross through the area every spring and fall. Settle in, stay awhile, and make memories in the heart of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
Our cabin is located 28 minutes from the western gates of Yellowstone National Park and is a spacious home base for trips into the Park, fishing, hiking, boating, skiing, snowmobiling, and beyond.
The space:
High ceilings, modern furnishings, and well-appointed sleeping quarters make this modern 6-bedroom cabin a perfect place to gather with friends and family. Bedrooms include 2 king quarters, 2 queen rooms, 1 full room, and a master-adjoining bedroom with 1 queen bed and 2 twin beds (perfect for kids). You'll also find a spacious living room with plenty of lounge space, two full bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen with an open-air dining room and buffet island, a garage for your toys, a back deck (accessible during summers only), a propane grill, a hot tub, and a one-of-a-kind Western-style saloon.
Guest access:
Guests have full access to the house, driveway, and garage — make yourselves at home. An EV charging plug is also available for guest use. Please note the garage is not available for large vehicle parking.
Other things to note: Before you book, read on to learn about a couple of property quirks to make sure we're the right fit for your outdoor adventure:
We're happy to say we've got fiber internet at the cabin — a small miracle out here in the wilds of Island Park. We use it ourselves to stream movies and get work done when we need to, so you shouldn't have any trouble doing the same.
That said, we're tucked into a pretty remote corner of Idaho, and even fiber has its moments out here — the occasional hiccup during a storm, a slow patch here and there. We've done everything we can to give you the best connection possible, but if you're planning something mission-critical (a big Zoom call, a live presentation), it's worth having a backup plan just in case. And if the WiFi does act up, well — that's your cue to step outside and let the mountains take over for a while.
While we made Wapiti View Cabin as comfortable as possible, we're still located in a remote area and encourage our guests to prepare for some rustic experiences. That can mean drafts in the winter, hot summers, or the occasional four-to-eight-legged friend around the property or grounds. We like to think of ourselves as an extension of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, so it's all part of the fun!
Please note that one of the bedrooms (the 1 queen, 1 twin room) adjoins the upstairs master bedroom.
For the safety of our guests, we maintain an outdoor security camera covering the entrance to the cabin. As part of living in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, we keep an eye on bear activity on trash days, snow and ice levels during winters, and other precautionary measures to make sure you have a safe and smooth stay.
Winters are intense here. Snow shedding from the roof, as well as icy or snowy walkways, can be dangerous and difficult to pass, particularly for guests with ambulatory issues. The HOA plows the neighborhood streets but leaves a thin layer of snow intentionally, for snowmobile access. We're also subject to mountain snowstorms that can occur early in fall and well into spring.
Fire season typically falls between summer and early fall in the area, so air quality may be unhealthy during this time, particularly for sensitive groups.
The western gates to Yellowstone close seasonally, generally closing the second Monday of November and reopening the third Friday of April.
We hope you enjoy this neck of the woods as much as we do. Welcome to the greater Yellowstone region!
Island Park is home to this cabin. Mack's Inn Playhouse and Museum of the Yellowstone are cultural highlights, and some of the area's attractions include Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center and Yellowstone Big Gun Fun. Enjoy the area's slopes with snowboarding and skiing, and don't miss out on the sledging and snowmobiling. Visit our Island Park travel guide

The house was great! We loved how much space we had and that all of our family had bedrooms and beds. The space in the kitchen was amazing and plenty of space for us to eat together as a family. We will definitely be back.
It was at a very nice location. The house was beautiful and it provided all of the essentials. My family and I had a great time and it is definitely a place that we would like to stay at again !
The house was very spacious which was perfect for the 6 adults we had on our snowmobile trip. The owner was very responsive to the couple of questions we had prior to arrival. Would definitely recommend to others and stay there again!
House was amazing. Very clean. Everything provoded that you would need. Great location. Had toys and games for the kids that came in handy. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of space for a large group. Host was prompt and helpful. Provided maps and bear spray. Washer and dryer came in handy. Would highly recommend. And would definitely stay there again.
This property was by far the best place i have stayed in the Island Park-West Yellowstone area. It was very modern and spacious on the inside perfect for gathering after a long day of snowmobiling. Plenty of garage space to work on and park sleds in. Having 2 refrigerators inside was perfect in order to fit food and beverages for the 5 of us and having an ice maker was an added bonus! Stephen made the entire process super easy and answered questions via text or phone call in a matter of minutes. This will be where i stay from here on out as i don’t think things can get much better and to top it off the nightly rates were far more inexpensive than any comparable properties.
I recommend this property at Island Park. It was well-maintained, and the host, Stephan, was very communicative and responsive to my questions. I highly recommend it.
