"A 20+ minute wait to check in meant our stay didn’t get off to a great start. Unfortunately the noise from dogs barking inside the hotel both while we were trying to relax with a drink and later into the evening made it difficult to unwind and even to fall asleep after a long day of walking. This wasn’t well managed and impacted our overall experience. On a more positive note, the pool facilities were good and the room itself was comfortable. However, we were also disappointed that cash payment wasn’t an option. Overall, due to these issues, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel unless you’re prepared for that kind of experience like ours."

"The Morlich was closed for the night I booked, stayed in a different hotel on the complex. Room clean and tidy. Didn’t use the dining facilities, breakfast at £25 a head too expensive even though I can claim it back."

"The hotel was in a good location, a bit run down and dated. Hairdryer in the room didn’t work, the window sil was loose and the sofa bed was horrific! My 2 kids had terrible sleeps both nights. I wouldn’t say it was worth the £355 we paid for 2 nights. We’d expect much better quality for that price. "

"This is a well-looked-after modern refurbishment of an older property. The rooms are compact but very nicely presented. There is a really nice restaurant downstairs as well The restaurant does really good breakfasts and has a good evening small plates menu "

"The room was clean, tidy with a comfy bed with tea/coffee facilities available, the owners were really lovely and helpful, location was good in a quiet cul-de-sac with good parking and a easy walk into the centre and it was a very comfortable stay. Breakfast was cooked to perfection, i personally found the electric shower good but some people may find it abit weak but works fine."

"The food is great but very expensive, although Ballater is an expensive place to stay. Evening meal and bar lovely, breakfast amazing. Nice feel to the hotel, very traditional and cosy. We stayed in a standard room, which is basic. Mattress and pillows felt cheap, it overlooked properties but there was no net curtain to offer privacy, dusty, TV had no apps to log into, noise from downstairs clearly audible, door in the hallway made a creaking noise. We were pretty disappointed as the next level was almost double. "

"Did not use all the facilities but had a wonderful stay. Be great to have a similar hotel near Aviemore as that is where we spent most our time. Loved the spacious and very clean suite that we stayed in."

"Room okay but a bit shabby and dated. TV didn't work. Free wifi. Hot water in shower, and room nice and warm to sleep in. Continental breakfast was good, but no other eating places nearby. Next time we would stay in Pitlochry. "

"This was the worst place we stayed on our Scottish road trip. It was clean, however the beds were extremely uncomfortable. The 2nd bedroom was tiny, it advertised 2 x single beds but they are caravan single beds not normal size single beds. There is not even a gap to walk between them. Our daughter was so claustrophobic that she slept on the couch. There is no phone service, and although the listing says it has wifi, you need to pay extra for this and it does not reach the cabin. This would be fine except for the fact that the welcome pack is “online” so while I managed to get details to check in (while we had service elsewhere) , we were unable to check it for the departure instructions, where in the small print you are charged a fifty pound cleaning fee if you dont strip the beds for them. There was also food left in the freezer from previous guests. "
