Wonderful

The house is in a quiet, peaceful country location with lots of birds, and only about 15 minutes drive to town. We had a wonderful, relaxing stay. Dan and Bena were very responsive to communications. Our second stay here. Highly recommended.
We really loved the house and the setting. Dan and Bena have obviously put a-lot of love into the place and it feels like a real home. The highlight was feeding the chickens and collecting their eggs. Also loved watching the display of birds from the deck and the outside fire and stars at night. .
The property has livestock and guests need to look after these, which is highly inappropriate and has not been mentioned in any of the property descriptions.
STAY AWAY if you allergic to pets, dirt (this place could do with as a good spring clean!!) and don't want to carry the burden of responsibility for someone else's pets/livestock.
It also feels very strange to live in someone's house, were it appears the owners are coming back any minute (clothes hanging around, the house cat [Lucy - cheeky git] wants attention and constant feeding (she looks like it - poor cat - it's nearly animal cruelty seeing that fat cat being fairly immobile due to its fatness), and the owners parents turn up randomly.
The properties furniture also seems to be from a jumble sale, as especially the bed in the master has seen much better days (my back is still hurting).
The newest pieces of furniture seem to be the couch in the living room.
The location of the property is very nice and leaves no room for complaints - idyllic! And if all the above doesn't bother you, this is the place!
We really enjoyed our stay and loved the setting of the property. It was very quiet and lovely view sitting relaxing on the deck. The children loved collecting fresh eggs and feeding the chickens.
The house had everything we needed and felt like we were very rural but yet less than 10mins to the supermarket and a quick trip into town.
The only downside for us was not getting on with Lucy the cat!
Thanks for having us 😀
Beautiful property and location! Children loved the chickens especially ☺️ only a few minor things would have added to the stay, a few basics like oil, spreads, sauces and cling wrap/tinfoil etc would have saved us having to buy absolutely everything from scratch. Also top sheets on the beds would have been good as it was so hot and only heavy duvets 🥵
However, overall still enjoyed the stay! ☺️
Beautiful property and house. Lots of natural light/windows and great deck overlooking the garden and neighbouring paddocks. Lots of veg growing that we could help ourselves too and fresh eggs daily from the chickens. Dan and Bena have put in a lot of work turning it into a eco/sustainable property. Private rural location but still very close to New Plymouth city and amenities. Multiple beaches near by too. Great views of Mt. Taranaki in the area ( not from the property). We all loved our stay and wish we could call it home.
This is a fantastic holiday home, away from it all but at the same time close to the city, near great beaches and parks. Enough space for a family of 6. The kids enjoyed the cat and chickens. Very friendly and helpful owners.
We really enjoyed are 8 days at this beautiful property. Such a lot of hard work and thought has been put in to it and the pay off is obvious. It is peaceful and relaxing, and a lovely place to return to after a good day out. A big thanks to Daniel and Ben a.
Lovely rural setting yet close to beaches and town
Really enjoyed the quiet country setting of this home after a busy day at the beach or in town. Lucy the cat greeted us warmly on each return and the free range eggs were delicious. The newly decorated home and kitchen was clean, cozy and comfortable. With a few minor finishing touches - kitchen drawer handles : ) this lovely home makes for a great holiday destination.
This property lives up to its name, an eco friendly family home. My family stayed for five nights through January. We enjoyed looking after the chickens and checking for fresh eggs each day, the kids loved the trampoline as an added surprise. A very peaceful part of New Plymouth, wonderful house to relax in after day out. Close to everything you need, and to New Plymouth itself.
The brochure provided by the hosts was very helpful, this was made available prior to our arrival also. Andrew was very prompt in responding to our communication regarding the house.
We would definitely stay at the property again, and will recommend to family and friends.
Rustic, in a very nice way. secluded, tranquil and most enjoyable

Charming house in a secluded setting close to town and attractions
We have enjoyed staying at this secluded house. The place was clean and tidy. As described the house was unfinished but it doesn't take away it's charms, in fact we hardly noticed it, with the exception of the lack of curtains for one of the windows in the master bedroom which made for very bright mornings. The house was very relaxing and have plenty of space inside with lots of games, toys and DVDs to entertain everyone. The kitchen was basic but functional. We loved the surrounding, with the veranda overlooking the private bush backyard which was done very nicely and the kids loved running around there. We have also enjoyed the company of Lucy the cat! The house was just a short drive to New Plymouth town centre and an easy drive to bushwalks at Mt Taranaki.

We had a lovely stay, the house is comfortable and relaxing. Lucy the cat was sweet company.
We also really enjoyed the area surrounding, beautiful swimming spots, gorgeous beaches, great skate parks and playgrounds, and tasty food and coffee!

quiet, private and relaxing
Really private and relaxing place to spend New Year this year!!! We enjoyed everything, from exploring the gardens, sitting on the porch under the grapevines, playing Frisbee in the big paddock, making our traditional oliebollen for New Year with Lucy's company, and of course exploring the area. We went to Mount Taranaki for a beautiful walk, swam in the waves at Oakura beach, visited friends who happen to live next door ( what a coincidence!!!) , went to the festival of Lights in New Plymouth and finally did the White cliffs walk near Urenui.
All in all a great experience and recommended!

Beautiful setting, amazing design of landscape, rustic country feel.
Beautiful setting, amazing design of landscape, rustic country feel. Our son loved the toys & feeding the cat & chickens! Kitchen was a little limited in space to put our food (other than fridge which is big). As the info mentions house is unfinished in terms of plastering but this doesn't really matter. No curtains in one of the bedrooms - ?a plan to add some. Thank you for allowing us to stay for a while in your home.

Beautiful location.
Beautiful location. Restful spot, ideal for a relaxing holiday. The house was nice and lived in - which was good. Had everything you needed. My grandson loved the cat and the chicken (cat didn't love him so much mind you!). The only wee gripe was the access was a bit challenging for my mum due to her bad knee, but apart from that would highly recommend and would happily stay here again.

We loved the rural setting of the property and being surrounded by panoramic views of the beautiful
We loved the rural setting of the property and being surrounded by panoramic views of the beautiful taranaki landscape. As promised the bach was very private which was very relaxing. The kids loved the experience of interacting with the chickens - feeding them and collecting eggs. We loved the eco principles of the property and the open and spacious layout of the house.
