Le Prévôt **** Maison 1603 , Charm and luxury between Riquewihr and Ribeauvillé
Hello,
You'll find all the information you need and the best prices on our personal website! (maison - 1603 . com)
In anticipation of your visit, here is a brief description:
Our gite ‘Le Prévôt’ occupies the site of the former dwelling of the Master of the House.
The house is right in the centre of the old village with all its amenities.
It is designed to accommodate 2 to 4 people, allowing you to recharge your batteries as the seasons change and enjoy the wonderful light offered by the villages on the mountainside. Comfortable, calm and bright, it's the ideal place to put down your bags and take a trip back in time. You can sleep in the bedroom dating from 1603 and take your bath in 1711!
In each room, we give pride of place to crafts and our popular Alsatian arts, allowing you to discover the region and its traditions from the inside.
The kitchen, historically the vital centre of the home, the place where water and fire come together to prepare the family's daily food, has been designed as such. These different functions are reflected in special features such as the decorated tiled cooker, the worktop designed with the more modern idea of a kitchen open to the living space.
*You'll find all the equipment you need: fridge/freezer, microwave oven, glass-ceramic hob and traditional oven, dishwasher. Of course, you'll also find all the essential kitchen utensils, including everything you need to prepare a good breakfast: toaster, filter coffee maker, Nespresso percolator, etc.
In the lounge/dining room, a round table overlooking the flower-filled street will give you the chance to enjoy the atmosphere of a picturesque village, with the prospect of a small alleyway leading to the Town Hall. From this south-facing living room, you'll discover a small window overlooking the courtyard, which you can use to your advantage.
*The pull-out sofa in the living room offers the possibility of 2 additional quality beds.
The spacious bedroom has a very comfortable bed (180x200) and offers the same luminous orientation as the living room.
The bathroom, which did not exist originally, has been designed around a large period bath on a Lion's Paw stand.
A small window overlooking the kitchen, originally a pass-through, has been restored as a bottle back.
This is a charming, spacious bathroom where you can relax after a busy day of sightseeing and walking! It also has a shower and toilet.
*Towels and household linen are provided.
Outside, table and chairs will be waiting for you in our courtyard as soon as the fine weather arrives. A barbecue is also available. Perfect for an outdoor snack.
The house dates back to 1603 and was built by the provost of King Henry IV.
Over time, it has become a typical winegrower's house, with its sandstone entrance porch, half-timbering, authentic balcony and flower-filled courtyard set between a barn and a house.
Situated on the wine route, in the heart of Alsace, in one of the most beautiful villages in France, our 2 charming gites are an ideal base for visiting the whole of the Alsace region, the Vosges and even nearby Germany and Switzerland.
Housed in a house listed as a cultural heritage site, our 2 holiday homes have been completely renovated and redecorated with patience and passion since 2010, respecting the natural materials of our ancestors. Here, furniture steeped in history blends with modern comforts to enhance your well-being.
Located right in the centre of Hunawihr, you can feel the pulse of this peaceful little wine-growing village with its flower-filled houses. The village, made up of two almost parallel streets linked by two small lanes, offers views of the surrounding countryside from almost every angle.
You can easily park in front of the house. Electric and hybrid cars can be recharged here.
Via the wine trail, you can easily walk to 2 emblematic villages, Riquewihr to the south (20 minutes‘ walk) and Ribeauvillé to the north (20 minutes’ walk), offering landscapes for which our region is famous.
Maison 1603 is typical of winegrowers' houses, with a vast cellar on the ground floor and the living quarters upstairs.
The 2 flats are accessed via the monumental wooden staircase, the backbone of the house, which leads from each floor to the attic. As you climb the stairs, you will pass through the different eras of the house.

The beautiful village of Hunawihr
Situated in the Ballons des Vosges Regional Nature Park, on the Alsace Wine Route, Hunawihr is a typical Alsatian village, listed as one of the ‘Most Beautiful Villages in France’.
The fortified church overlooks the 360-degree vineyard landscape, making this village a natural stop-off point, set in a setting of vines.
Hunawihr owes its name to the holy washerwoman Huna, who, according to legend, lived here in the 12th century with her husband, the Frankish lord Hunon. Legend has it that in the 12th century, when the winegrowers of Hunawihr were unable to produce a harvest, St Huna performed a miracle by making the wine flow from the fountain that still bears her name today. Overlooking the village, the 15th-century church of St Jaques le Majeur, surrounded by a fortified cemetery, has preserved its unspoilt setting, highlighting this remarkable part of Alsace's heritage landscape. The church also served as a dungeon, where the inhabitants could take refuge in the event of an attack. This wine-growing village is made up of gabled wine-growers' houses with narrow courtyards, most of which date from the 16th to 18th centuries.
You can explore the village on a historical trail.

Very conveniently situated. Easy walk to the main next village, and the splendid local restaurant is 100 meters away at most. The host gave an excellent handover.
An excellent 10 days spent in Hunawhir.
Property charming, immaculately clean and all equipment as described. The outside is just some chairs in a yard which we didn't use because it was nice to sit in the lounge room with the windows overlooking the village.
Hunawhir was much quieter than all the neighbouring tourist traps, but only a short distance. Nice walks with the dog through the vineyards and forest above the village. Small shop has essential needs and lots of wine to taste locally!

Charming apartment and host with great attention to detail.
Bertrand was a wonderful host. Clear and timely interaction. He welcomed us to the flat warmly with cake and sparkling wine. The place was very clean with wonderfully crisp sheets and a comfortable king size bed. Little added touches (like fresh flowers and votive candles) gave the apartment a wonderfully cozy and warm feeling; and that wonderful bathtub has spoiled me! We would gladly stay again. Thank you, Bertrand.
This apartment is wonderful — spacious, comfortable, very well-equpped, and filled with charm. The traditional furnishings are beautiful as well as functional. The kitchen is extremely functional, with everything needed to cook full meals. The (shared) washer-dryer was very handy. My favorite part was the huge old tub, in which I enjoyed a nightly soak.
The location is also excellent. Hunawihr is a lovely village, in the midst of the vineyards of Alsace. There are many other places worth visiting close by, including Colmar, Riquewihn and Kayserberg (to name a few).
The booking and arrival/departure processes were easy.
In sum: this is a great place to stay.

Lovely Apartment
I cannot say enough good about our time in Bertrand's lovely apartment. We stayed just before Christmas. The apartment was well appointed, warm and cozy. Bertarnd greeted us with a regional cake and sparkling wine. He was very friendly and informative. The apartment was spotless and the bathroom had the largest tub I have ever soaked in. The kitchen had everything you could need for meal preparation. The bed was very comfortable. The location was wonderful. It is tucked in a "most beautiful village of France" where in good weather you could walk to two other villages (20min). I would highly recommend either of Bertrand's apartments. I hope to come back myself. Thank you Bertrand
