The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the attention to detail made it feel like a true home away from home. ​The Setting: Relaxing on the patio overlooking the garden was a highlight. It’s the perfect spot for a morning coffee or a quiet sundowner. ​Whether you are visiting for a school event or just need a getaway in the mist-belt, Gateside is the place to be. "A little dissatisfied. There are fire places in the rooms as well as all public spaces but because it wasn’t yet the 1st of May (even though we were there over the Easter long weekend), we were not allowed to light them. (It was cold). No music / fires / atmosphere in the public spaces makes it cold & uneventful to go there. No walking trails on the property, so if you want to walk you need to drive to another. Your breakfast is complimentary but you must pay to have a cappacino (only filter coffee included- which as a coffee lover - honestly wasn’t very nice coffee at all). The steam room at the spa wasn’t working when we went for our treatments. The staff however are really lovely and doing their best to make it welcoming. If you’re happy to sit in your room all weekend then it is perfect, but for a more active couple, unfortunately it’s not the right fit. "
