"Elke and Wout are lovely. They are generous, kind, and sensitive hosts. Their home is beautiful. You will be treated to big breakfasts served on lovely China with delicious homemade bread, eggs from their own chickens, homemade jams, locally made cheeses and various meats. Dinner is also fantastic and Wout does a perfect blue steak, wonderful fish dishes and his frites are fantastic! The Dining Room has a wonderful aspect. It has lots of natural light as it overlooks the River Scheldekant and...
"Fine for an overnight stay next to the highway, but disappointing for a Van der Valk hotel.
Some good points: easy location, ample free parking, and large rooms with balconies. However this hotel clearly isn’t run to the same high standards as others in the chain. The decor has bumps, scrapes and marks everywhere, and it’s not acceptable to let black mould grow in the shower. "

"The entire experience was great. The location was ideal, room was clean and spacious. The property was very clear and swift on instructions for checking in and parking. Also dog friendly. Overall would recommend The Hide to absolutely everyone travelling to Ghent. "

"My family booked a premium room at a wellness spa. This is not what we experienced.
Access to the room was via a narrow staircase into the loft. No hand rails. Narrow steps. Basic health and safety issue.
The room felt like a half converted loft. Curtains simply hid what was basically an area of junk.
The bunk bed for the kids has a large spike just above it. If a child where to sit up quickly i they would put a hole in their head.
The one loft window in the room is low down and ridiculously easy for child to climb out of.
The bathroom is basic. Almost unfinished.
The bathroom draws had human hair in them.
Retrospective investigation of their website shows the owner chooses to argue with complainants and not deal with issues.
All up. A poor experience. So poor I packed my bags and left 30 minutes after arriving.
Complete waste of money and borderline scam due to the missrepresentation of what you actually get."
"Our group stayed here for a week to take part in a cyclocross race - it was perfect in every way! The house was spacious, clean and situated in a very beautiful area. Our hosts met us and gave us a great intro to the home and area - we wish we could stay a month!!! Thanks for a great stay - Marc"
