The best area to stay in Hohenfurch for most travellers is within the village centre itself, offering the most convenience and access to local amenities.

Hohenfurch is a small, traditional Bavarian village, so the "centre" refers to the area around the main church, St. Michael, and the few local shops and guesthouses. It's a compact and pleasant area, ideal for experiencing the local village life. You'll find a few family-run guesthouses and holiday apartments here, often offering breakfast.

Couples looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway will appreciate staying in the village centre. It provides a peaceful base to explore the surrounding Bavarian countryside, with walking and cycling paths easily accessible from your doorstep. You're also close to the local bakery for morning pastries and a traditional inn for an evening meal.

For families, staying in or just outside the village centre is also a great option. Many holiday homes in Hohenfurch and the immediate vicinity offer more space, often with gardens, which is superb for children.

The best time to visit Hohenfurch is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is warm and sunny, great for outdoor activities and exploring the Bavarian countryside.

During these months, you'll find the most pleasant conditions for hiking and cycling along the Lech River, which flows nearby. The fields are green, and the forests are lush, making it an ideal time for nature lovers and active travellers. Local events and festivals often take place in the villages around Hohenfurch during the summer, offering a glimpse into Bavarian culture.

For those who enjoy winter sports or a festive atmosphere, December to February can also be a good time to visit. While it's colder, the region transforms into a winter wonderland, with opportunities for cross-country skiing and enjoying traditional Christmas markets in nearby towns like Schongau. This period is particularly appealing for couples seeking a cosy, picturesque getaway.
