Star cottage is centrally located with shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants all within walking distance. The cottage was plenty big for a young family and quite cosy with the fire going.
We had a brilliant week at Star Cottage and loved being so close to the city while in a quiet area. It was wonderful to be in walking distance of the city, Cascade Brewery, Battery Point and the Derwent River, as well as having a supermarket and eateries so close. The cottage was snug and had both modern features as well as old world charm. Thank you Antonia and Robin!
Good kitchen opening on the garden. We used the back bedroom closer to bathroom and toilet. Very comfortable bed.1 bathroom; excellent shower. An extra toilet made life easier for us.Washing machine with a dryer attached: very convenient.Lovely warm gas pretends to be a wood fire in the loungeKimba approved of the garden although the steps to get to the deck were a bit High.
It may be a matter of taste, but this immaculate cottage was absolute perfection. Fabulous taste in the decoration and every comfort considered. From a cozy gas fire with a great selection of books, to a sunny spot for a cup of tea in the garden. The hosts are fabulous and truly this was one of the best properties I've stayed in on my travels.
My husband and I really enjoyed this sweet and cozy cottage. It was clean and had everything that we needed. It’s a quick drive or you can walk to everything you need. The neighborhood is quiet and lovely. The owner was quick to communicate and we loved the sweet surprise of a little honey upon arrival. On a beautiful afternoon, we enjoyed some snacks and wine in the back yard. We found the bed to be comfortable and loved the fireplace. My husband is 6’5 so he had a bit of trouble not hitting his head on a few of the low door jams but that’s part of the charm of a place built in the 1800’s! We would definitely stay here again if we ever make the journey back to Tasmania.
We came to Hobart for a long weekend getaway and Star Cottage was everything we hoped for and more. It’s clean, tidy, warm, and central. It also offers beautiful views. My husband, 10 year-old son and I marvelled at surrounding gardens and prestigious homesteads and visited all the popular tourist attractions including the Salamanca Markets and high quality restaurants with delicious seafood and wine. Shops and gorgeous parks are all within walking distance. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back!
Star cottage was an absolute delight. We visited Hobart for the week, my daughter, 22month old grandson and myself. The cottage and surrounds were everything we could have hoped for, comfortable, clean and warm. The location was great, we could walk into Sandy Bay or Hobart easily, drive if needed. Loved everything about this little place, my grandson was comfortable and safe, especially enjoyed having his bottle in front of the fire in the morning on the sheepskin rug. We will be back for sure. Thank you Antonia and Nic for a memorable stay.
Overall we enjoyed the property for our week in Hobart. Location both quiet and close to the CBD and wharf area removing any need to drive and our dog loved Fitzroy Gardens park nearby for his daily walks. Some observations for improvements;
a fan in the bedrooms would be a welcome addition in the warmer weather; as there are no fly screens on doors nor windows, circulation at night was not possible.
We found the garden rather neglected and therefore not particularly inviting to spend time in.
The cottage is perfect for a weekend get away. Hosts are so accommodating and were fast and easy to communicate with. Couldn’t recommend this highly enough. Thankyou!
Star Cottage was well located for us to walk to many venues in the heart of Hobart. It was convenient and well equipped and made us feel quite at home. We would highly recommend it.
Quiet location
lovely view from the street
the fact we staying in a cottage built so early
The warmth of the inside with the fire going was great. On these cold mornings and nights
Even the locals/neighbours made us feel welcomed with helpful hints and just being nice
Hard learning roads around are 1 way seemed awkward to us from Victoria
Bed was comfy
This 1800s cottage was a great place to stay for our family and base ourselves out of for a week of adventures around Southern Tassie. Warm (gas fireplace was awesome!) comfortable and Antonia and Robin were great hosts! It’s close to the city and Sandy Bay shops. The added bonus was the honey from their own bee hives and an espresso machine with real coffee! Parking can be an issue if you leave your car out front of the property during the day but Antonia and Robin have that covered. We’ll be back again!
