Apartment on the EDGE is a modern self-contained, spacious apartment for two, at the rear of a family home, located in the quiet suburb of Lenah Valley.
The apartment is newly refurbished, and has been thoughtfully appointed to ensure the comfort and convenience of our guests.
The open plan living area has access to the verandah and shared courtyard, where you can sit and enjoy an early morning cuppa, or perhaps a glass of something special in the evening.
For those quieter evenings relax and enjoy the apartment which is equipped with a large TV, Wi-Fi, Netflix, and Spotify or perhaps lose yourself in the selection of books on Tasmanian history, culture, and the culinary opportunities that our state is so well known for.
Your complimentary breakfast pantry will be stocked with a selection of cereals, muesli, bread and spreads, which may include home made raspberry jam. Tea, coffee and fresh milk is also provided.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a full-sized oven and cooktop, fridge, microwave, and dishwasher.
The queen size bed is fitted with luxurious linen, and for those cooler Tassie nights an electric blanket. There is ample wardrobe space and in the ensuite bathroom you will find deluxe towels, a hair dryer and a selection of quality bathroom products.
Portable cot and baby chair are also available on request.
Guests may check themselves in to the apartment independently using the secure pass code door, for easy after hours’ arrivals. Your code will be provided after your booking is accepted.
The apartment adjoins the main house; however, it is entirely separate, with its own, private entrance. Our aim is to provide a hospitable space, allowing our guests complete independence and privacy.
We are available to assist guests during the day by mobile or email or if you wish, in person in the evening.
Lenah Valley is a quiet suburb four kilometres from the CBD with many amenities within walking distance-: • Salamanca Fresh grocery store and deli. • Lenah Valley Foodstore • Sublime Italian restaurant • Milano’s takeaway pizza • Whisk and Co. (breakfast and lunch) • Plus - chemists and doctor’s surgery, hairdressers, service station, newsagent, fashion boutique and florist.
In the adjoining suburb of New Town, a few minutes’ drive from the apartment, there are cafes’ bakeries, grocery stores, K Mart and Woolworths and Coles supermarkets.
Elizabeth Street, North Hobart, a five-minute drive from the apartment, is famous for its strip of eateries, hotels and specialty shops. Check out a film at the historic State Cinema (possibly on the rooftop) with a glass of Tasmanian wine.
From the airport, you can catch a taxi or the Airporter Shuttle Bus is $18 per person one-way to the city. If you have a car it’s about a 30-minute drive. Guests have access to parking in the driveway or there is plenty of off-street parking. Public transport, which will take you to the city (via North Hobart) is only two minutes away on Augusta Road. Buses run very frequently. A taxi to the Waterfront will cost less than $20.
It is 10 kilometers to MONA which can take 20 – 30 minutes depending on traffic conditions.
There is a Bernese Mountain Dog called Boris in the back garden, please let me know if this is a problem.

Beautiful, well equipped property. Attention to detail second to none. Many thoughtful extras. One of the comfiest beds I have ever slept in. Hosts amazing and Boris the Bernease Mountain dog was an absolute delight. Central to everything we wanted to do ans see.
We stayed for 6 nights and had the most amazing time from start to finish.Our host and fur babies were super friendly, helpful and left our home away from home stocked with Tassie essentials including homemade jam.It was cosy, comfortable and clean and located in proximity to shops, parks and a bus stop.So close to town also.We would recommend and stay again for sure.
Convenient location and close to family. Beautiful garden views, sunshine and internal heating and cooling. All needs are supplied, including a full kitchen, lounge, bedroom and bathroom, and an abundance of interesting books to read. On a personal level, the owners are welcoming and eager to help in any way possible, so that your stay is unforgettable.

Perfect location for us near our family and amenities (groceries, cafe, pharmacy). Really appreciated the breakfast and snack supplies. Great espresso maker! The garden and patio were lovely to look at and we enjoyed watching the three cats and large dog who were often out there.
When we walked through the door, it was like coming home. The apartment is very clean, modern and well appointed with all amenities. The hosts have shown great pride of ownership. Travelling to city centre by public transit was convenient, fast and inexpensive. We would not hesitate to book this apartment again.

Everything we needed. Clean, quiet, great area, spacious unit, lovely garden outlook, lovely hosts. Boris & the cats are beautiful. Just down the road from Calvary, Lenah Valley has a good variety of shops & cafes. Close to North Hobart eateries & shopping & still close & an easy drive into the city
Everything you need to get a good nights sleep after each day of hiking.
Close to city and all it has to offer, lots of great walks/hikes within an hour or so, and plenty of places to get dinner on the way home.
Property was well described, comfy bed, clean bathroom and kitchen, and owners were lovely. Very pleasant stay.
The unit is self contained, but backyard is shared with the main house. Boris is a lovely dog.
Alison and Rick keep a beautiful accommodation and we felt so relaxed and welcome.

Very roomy, relaxing, and refreshing.Owners at the best we have been privileged to meet across 3 continents.Everything you need, and some you didn’t know you needed till you find it there for your use. Easy to get to the city the sites, and the out of the way places with city convenience. Do yourself a favor and just book it.
Pre arrival info. was all good and access to property easy. Welcome from Allison and Rick was lovely and the Christmas decorations in the room was a nice touch.We stayed 19 nights, visiting family on most days and various tourist spots around Hobart.Everything we needed was available and nearby shopping was good.It was impossible not to like Boris, the owners' Bernese dog, who was just a big softee.Will definitely stay again when the opportunity arrives.

I had a wonderful time staying at The Edge Apartment. The location is great and the apartment was super clean. Allison and Rick are friendly and very accommodating to my needs (e.g. vegan breakfast foods). Allison gave me great suggestions on things to do on my trip. I slept like a baby on the most comfortable bed in the world. As a solo traveller, I felt very safe staying here. Thanks to Allison, Rick, Boris and all the kitties for making this an unforgettable holiday.
