Cozy cabin in the Hills

Sunset Trails Cabin was updated for the 2022 season and under new management. The cabin has 3 bedrooms with new queen beds on a split level (the loft is no longer in use). One bedroom leads to a large deck with a beautiful view. It has two 3/4 bathrooms, full kitchen, gas fireplace, deck with gas grill, and a washer and dryer. Sunset Trails is located 5 minutes from Hill City on roughly 1.5 miles of gravel road (guests on motorcycles please take note of the gravel road). Its walking distance from the Mickelson Trail and about 20 minutes from Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. For those of you that like to stay connected you do have cell service here and we just added Wi-Fi!! Cell service is spotty in some areas so please pull up the map and directions before heading to the house. This home is in a neighborhood so those of you that bring ATV/UTVs please be considerate of the road and the neighbors.

This cabin was tucked away in the mountains. We loved the peace the nature and woods brought us. The cabin was very clean & the house supplies were good quality. The owners did not skip out on anything. They even provided fresh food supplies for us! They provided maps/brochures for all the adventures that surrounded us! Check in and check out process was easy! I’d HIGHLY recommend and love to go back!

My family had an amazing time at the cozy cabin in the hills! Location was great, close to all the attractions in the black hills but out of town and in a quiet area. We would all wake up and look for the wildlife that would walk through the backyard and just enjoy the fresh air and cool mornings!!! The hosts were great and answered all our questions in a timely manor. We are definitely planning on going back to the cozy cabin

Best Stay in our History of VRBO

Beautiful location with well maintained property. It was exceptionally well cleaned and stocked. The absolute best hosts we've ever had. Mike and Dulce went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience (pre frozen beer mugs, fresh eggs, ground coffee). The forethought they put into their guests visits is truly amazing.

Property was fantastic! Great location in a quiet neighborhood and still close to Hill City. The house had great amenities and perfect setup for 3 couples during our side by side trip. We were able to get 2 trailers parked in the driveway. We missed having Wi-Fi in the house (overlook on my part) but ended up being great to unplug for a few days

Weeding trip to the black hills

Awesome cabin in the trees. Very quite very clean As advertised. Perfect location to explore Crazy Horse. Mt Rushmore Custer state park. Would stay again.

Gem in the Black Hills

Great location just outside of Hill City. Host was easy to reach and very helpful. Plenty of space for our family of 5 to spread out and having two bathrooms was great. Would stay there again!

Great location!

The house was as described, clean and comfortable! Parking for 2 pickups with trailers was a little tight, but worked! Saw a deer family multiple times during our stay! Thank you for sharing this home with others!

Definitely a property to re-book in the future

property was great and very clean! we would stay again definitely! Mike and Dulce were great to work with also. (only suggestion is the sewage smell by the driveway might need to be fixed ) but that would not deter us from coming back as not only was the property GREAT, so were the 4-wheeling trails!

This place was perfect for our trip. Myself, my daughter, and a long time friend and his daughter spent labor day weekend here. It was centrally located and near everything you could imagine to find in the black hills. We did side by sides on the trails, road horses at high country trail rides "5 min away", and explored Needles highway and all the main attractions. The house itself feels bigger than the pictures show. It was very clean and very well stocked. It is very private and the back yard leads to endless forest. The hosts make the process so easy and communicate better than any host I've had on VRBO. They even gifted us farmlaid eggs and fresh ground beef! I really can't speak highly enough about this property and the hosts. Thank you for your hospitality, next time I visit the black hills this property will be my first choice!

Quiet, relaxed setting

Cabin was just what our family needed for our vacation in South Dakota. Room to spread out yet come together for meals and family games or discussion. Area was quiet and away from traffic yet close to the activities we wanted to do. Lindsey answered any questions we had. Great vacation!

A true Black Hills experience

First off you could not ask for better hospitality, Mike and Dulcy went above and beyond to accommodate all our needs. The cabin is in a perfect location away from the busy highways and offers a wonderful relaxing place to enjoy the true beauty of the Black Hills. This was our second summer staying in the Cozy Cabin in the Hills and it just keeps getting better as Mike and Dulcy continue to make it more enjoyable every year.

Awesome Experience

We had a great time at the property. Check in was super easy. It was very clean, had lots of fun games for the kids, and was in an excellent location. The loft was great for our big kids but I wouldn’t recommend it for children under 8-9. The stairs are extremely steep. Overall we really had a great experience staying here.

A perfect stay

Our family had a great time staying in this cabin! It was extremely clean upon arrival and had so many thoughtful amenities, such as all the basic necessities like soap, towels, linens, paper towels, etc., as well as less thought of, but extremely helpful items, like fans, lighter/matches, extension cords, books, etc. Additionally, the cabin itself and the surrounding area was gorgeous. The cabin is spacious and the hilltop neighborhood is quiet and beautiful. Located in Hill City, it's very close to all the major attractions and it was easy to return to after a fun day of play. Overall, our stay in the cabin turned out to be one of our favorite parts of the trip. Very cozy, comfortable and relaxing. We are already excited to come back and visit again!

Peaceful and quiet with nature

The cabin was well equipped. All appliances were in great shape and working order. Was very clean. Second bathroom was small but useful. The deck was a big hit especially with the children. Did not miss the air conditioning due to shaded and cool temps. Close to major attractions. Only drawback was the sleeping loft. Beds are on the floor no frames. The small bedroom upstairs was comfortable but very tight quarters The ladder to the loft should be relooked at. Very steep and dangerous especially at night. We enjoyed our stay but will look at other options next year only because we like variety and change. Still give it a 5 star.

What a convenient and beautiful location! The cabin wasmeticulous and there was even fresh eggs and beef for all of us in the fridge. We were able to meet our hosts Dulce and Mike and they were extremely pleasant and attentive to whatever questions we had with the surrounding area.They even referred us to the best German restaurantever, the Alpine in Hill City. Beautiful setting with morning deer in the front yard. Definitely would stay here again! THE GOLDEN GIRLS
