I booked this room well in advance for an event in the area and had no issues booking. A day before check-in I messaged the host to see if we could leave our luggage there early before check-in since we were going to an event. I didn't get a response. I waited until check-in time to worry about a response. I finally received a response back at the check-in time. She apologized and said that she was on a plane... When we got to the house at 5:15pm (check in was 3pm) the front door was unlocked but we followed the directions and went upstairs. It's clear this house is used as a rental and each room had electronic locks on the door and a shared bathroom. We found our room as indicated on the instructions with the door open. The bed was unmade with dirty towels on it, window was open (it was in the 80's) and used slippers on the ground as well. It was clear that the room had not been cleaned. We did not stay. I communicated to the host that the room was not cleaned and we would not be staying there. I had to book a last minute hotel at a significant additional cost to myself for the trip. The host communicated with VRBO and cancelled my say and gave me a refund. VRBO was reluctant, but eventually gave me 100 (not anywhere near the additional 500 I lost having to re-book at a CHEAP hotel).
