Welcome to our charming 1960 lakefront retreat on the beautiful Tsala Apopka Lake in Hernando, Florida. This warm and inviting home is decorated in a cozy cottage/shabby chic style and offers the perfect blend of comfort, character and Old Florida charm.

About the Home
Step inside and enjoy a one -of-a- kind space filled with personality. This older home features multiple levels, unique architectural details and curated decor-all of which is available for purchase from Velvet Cabbage.
Please note: Because of the varying levels and interior steps, this home may not be ideal for guests with mobility concerns, we would recommend looking at our other lakefront house in Floral City #66785

Outdoor Living
Take in breathtaking sunsets from the upper deck or the lakeside patio. A covered boat dock is available for your boat or simply fish off the dock as you settle into the easygoing pace of Florida lake life.

Canoe, kayak and paddle boat available for use, adult over 18 must be on board.

This is part of the old Florida, which has natural springs and moss covered trees. Numerous natural spring parks are located less than 1 hour drive. Enjoy manatees, fishing and wildlife. It is absolutely beautiful. 29 minutes to Rainbow Springs and 20 minutes to Crystal River, Three Sisters Springs

Withlacoochee State Bicycle Trail is one mile from the house and covers 46 miles of Florida beauty.

The house is located one hour from Disney World and 1.5 hours from Tampa. It is close enough to the Florida attractions but away from the traffic and crowds. There are numerous golf courses located nearby and including some championship courses.

This is the perfect place for a week or a month. We offer weekly and monthly rental discount; escape the cold winter and come to Florida for much less than a hotel room.

This area is offering new and upcoming businesses of wineries and breweries that showcase local talent. Copp Winery and Brewery, Nine States Brewery, Whispering Oaks Winery, Lakeridge Winery, plus many more!
AMENITIES: kayak and canoe are available for your entertainment. Reverse Osmosis water available at the kitchen sink.
Pet friendly: Please do not allowed them on the furniture. We do have an extra large collapsible crate located in the guest bedroom closet, so if you fur baby has anxiety issues, please feel free to use the crate. It is easy to set up.

Loved this house! I was needing a quiet stay for 4 nights. My wife and I loved the lake views from anywhere in the house! Even in the kitchen. So peaceful! We went to Crystal River one day and Ocala once! Publix was close by too. Bed was very comfortable. Lots of charm!

Really enjoyed the lake and the house, it really has that great cozy fish camp feel. It’s a quiet area even with the boats on the lake over the weekend, it feels like summer. Owner responded well to all questions and communication. The house was clean and comfortable. To top it off we got to see the bats at sunset leaving it’s house on the boat dock.

Kayaking and Biking at your Fingertips

This is a beautiful property on a lovely lake. The home is well-cared for with many personal touches which makes this place a real find! We brought our personal kayaks and bikes. We thoroughly enjoyed kayaking on the lake and using the Withlacoochee Bike Trail nearby.

Excellent place to stay

We had a great week staying at this house! The listing was accurate with regards to the photos. The house was well stocked with everything we needed. The interior living room and kitchen was vintage (in a good sense), while there were upgrades of the fridge and appliances. Bathrooms were updated. Exterior was good, with the dock being a highlight. We enjoyed the swing on the dock and watching the sunset. It was so nice having the kayaks and paddle boat. Even though the area may seem isolated, there were a lot of varied activities to participate in, especially State forests and hiking trails. Beautiful beaches are about 30 minutes away. Overall it was exactly as pictured and highly recommended.

Quiet, relaxing location

This property was a quiet, relaxing place. The home is decorated with many repurposed antique pieces giving an informal homey atmosphere. If you enjoy boating/kayaking, you will especially enjoy this location. We enjoyed shopping in the local antique shops and visiting the local restaurants. The location is easy to find with a GPS, but be aware that the last section of the road is not paved and is narrow. (You might think you're on the wrong road if you aren't using a GPS.) However this did not cause any issue in getting in and out as the road only accesses a few homes and there is little traffic.

16 Week Stay

The property was as advertised, old and a little quirky, but those are not negative. We really enjoyed the uniqueness of the house and property. Very nice back yard, perfect for our dog and looking out over the lake. We had a couple of issues that the owner took care of right away. I should also say the owners are wonderful folks to chat with about the house, or anything else. I met another couple who had previously rented this house and they really enjoyed it as well. I only gave 3 stars for cleanliness, I'll explain: The house just had a new roof put on as we rolled in. In fact, it was not quite completed. Due to the age of the house, dust fell down upon us until the first big rain. After that, not a issue. The house is on a well and the water does not have a great taste (It's Florida, and a well, it is what it is). I mention it because we purchased a Brita water filter/container for our drinking water. That made it drinkable. The location was PERFECT for our purposes, great access to bicycle riding, motorcycle riding and access to the gulf. If you stay out of Inverness during "rush hours", the traffic is great. That is rare in Florida! Not the crush of cars you get East and South. Would we come back? Yes, that is the best endorsement I can give.

Relaxing lake house

Stayed for 7 days. Very relaxing, cozy, quiet place right on the lake. Perfect sunsets would definitely recommend and would stay again. Fun, simple activities around the towns and some good antiquing if you’re into that.

Beautiful Sunsets

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the lake house in Hernando. It's a bird watcher and fisherman's paradise. It was so relaxing. The sunsets were amazing and we enjoyed watching the bats come out of the bat house (on the dock) after sunset each evening. Highly recommend.

Beautiful sunset

We stayed January 2023 for 3 weeks. House had an country fram feel very spacious. Very big kitchen. We loved our stay. Sunsets were amazing. Shower were nice and hot. We had everything we needed. Would definitely stay again if you like private and quiet its right here

Great place, beautiful sunsets, amazing lake. The only observation, suggestion is that the outside of the property were somehow unattended, looking abandoned, not taking care of. But overall very nice. Thank you👍😀
