The experience at this place was wondrous. The place is nice with no noise, letting the natural sounds of the wildlife surround and lull you into a nice relaxing vibe. The cabin itself is slightly small, but its cozy. Would definantly rent again.
It was a hot weekend but the AC was cold. We enjoyed hanging out on the deck overlooking the pond. Only thing to note is that I'd recommend bringing your own drinking water! But it was a great stay, we'd be back
The property has an interesting history. The owner even wrote a book about his life there. Some of what they did with the property tied back to place and artist and artwork we've collected over the last 30 years. This was a wonderful surprise for us.
We had a 2 night stay at this lovely cottage. Most of us enjoyed watching the pelicans and egrets on the deck. We played cards with our teens. I dont think the teens liked "unplugging" but I know it recharged all of our mental batteries. It was a gorgeous view and the bed was comfortable!!! Thanks for the stay John!
This place was perfect for the 2 people and 2 dogs to get away for the July 4th Weekend. The dogs loved the long walks in the meadow and along the road. The deck was a great place to sit in the sun and watch the swans. John was communicative and very nice. This is really a great place away from the hub-bub of the busy and noisy world. We did take the dogs into Morris (about 30 minute drive) on Saturday to an off leash dog park and DQ for pup cups afterwards. Other than that we worked remotely one day, watched movies, and read. Wifi and Roku were great to be able to work and log in to our own accounts for watching what we wanted. Would go back, especially with our dog, to avoid the fireworks and other holiday noises. It truly is a serene setting.
This was exactly what we needed to decompress from a difficult year. Peace and quiet, solitude, beautiful views, and comfortable. Loved sitting on the deck with my coffee to watch the swans, ducks, and pelicans on the water. Would definitely stay again.
Such a perfect spot to escape July 4th weekend fireworks. We have a very nervous dog when it comes to all the fireworks in the city. This place is perfect! The serenity of watching the swans with their cygnets as you sip your morning coffee is amazing. The place is cozy but has all the basics you need.

Thank you for making such a nice place available. I hope to come back. a few comments you might wanna hear are: there were tiny bugs on the kitchen counter, we could only get one TV channel and I was able to find the property without instructions… thanks for being very polite and understanding.
The scenery could not have been more perfect and we enjoyed the remote location. The small cottage was clean and well stocked and our dog loved exploring. The host was very kind and the bunk beds were quite comfortable. The history of the farm was fascinating.
Very cute cabin, pretty property. The people were great and we enjoyed our stay here. The location worked great for us visiting family in the area, but it is about 20 minutes from any town. We were not prepared for Minnesota bugs so bring bug spray!
It was a very nice place but way smaller than it was mafe to seem on website. I have spoken with the owner tho who is a very nice guy and he has assured me he would correct that on the website. But it is beautiful there with lots of wonderful wildlife to look at.
We really enjoyed our stay here. We were looking for someplace to relax and get away from the city noise and this fit the bill. No traffic, no sirens and only a few other people on the property that were very quiet.
We sat out on the necks and enjoyed the perfect weather and all the birds. It was wonderful being by the water. The dogs even enjoyed it.
The house is very small, but has everything you need.
We were surprised to pull into a farm with 2 more houses in close proximity. From the photos on the website the cabin looks secluded. However, even though we saw cars, we only saw the host one time for about 5 minutes and no one else. It was very quiet and private.
It was rustic, cozy, and clean. Very small (we expected that). We appreciated being able to bring our dogs. We had a very relaxing 2 days. We would have appreciated if the chairs by the Fire pit had been cleaned off and one of them was broken.
Overall, we had a lovely time.
I wanted trees and water. This cottage on a beautiful pond teeming with wildlife was a perfect place for me. The deck was a wonderful space to drink in the natural beauty. The hosts were cordial, but not intrusive. I stayed 3 extra days because I didn't want to leave. Also, an autobiography of the history and life of this area gave me an even deeper impression of this protected wetland site.
I'll get the cons out of the way first:
It's very small, but ok for a couple more than 2 would be tight. Must bring water to drink. It's on a farm so owner is right beside you, dog runs loose and a cat.
Pros:
It's very quiet, even with them beside us we didn't hear much noise more the ducks on the lake over everything.
Owner very responsive and helpful when needed. Pretty much have everything there you need minus normal things you would pack to a hotel. Great views, lots of ducks, pelicans, birds, and squirrels. Overall a good relaxing weekend.
Great spot for low key, stay in, and relaxing kind of weekend. Any activities are like 25 minutes away. Great view of the lake and numerous bird species to watch and enjoy.
We were looking for a quiet get-away for the weekend and we were not disappointed. The cottage was small, yet just what we needed as we enjoyed the deck and watching the pelicans. We were able to cook all our meals as there was a stocked kitchen with plates, utensils, etc. We used a cooler on a deck for extra storage since the fridge is under the counter.
Cottonwood Lake is within 5 minutes and stocked with fish.
This was our second stay at this cottage. We specifically selected this property based on its remote location where we would not be able to hear fireworks. The only noise we heard was the birds singing to us! You are still within a half hour from restaurants and groceries.
The hosts are THE BEST. Communication is prompt and thorough. We were able to take our small dog with us as well.
The cottage is intimate but has everything you need. The water is very hard, so we took extra for me so I could rinse my hair......yes, my husband rolled his eyes on this request, but went along with it. We take bottled water for drinking and making tea/coffee and any cooking. The shower has great hot water and toilet flushes great. Nice, functional newer kitchen.
The very best part was the large deck off the kitchen where we sat for many hours watching all the wildlife. We noticed very few bugs of any kind and we were there over July 4th.
