Lovely area away from noise and bustle and bustle of the main drag. Quiet and friendly with plenty of bars and restaurants around and convenient grocers and bakery directly across. Staff are all friendly and helpful

The staff were really helpful, friendly and efficient. The Galaxy Villas are well located and yet are set in quiet gardens with wonderful views of the sea. The were limited sunbathing areas round the pool but still a lovely setting.

We got upgraded upon check in which was lovely and our room was ready well before check in time. Staff were all friendly and the pool was a good size. Room is a little dated but kept clean and sheets and towels changed daily.

The apartment was decent enough, although few steps to get there!, one very musky wardrobe and lots mosquitoes (which clearly is not the villa’s fault) but had a good view, pool area nice and very friendly staff

I absolutely loved the location of Galaxy Villas. It was right in the heart of a charming traditional Cretan village and it was easy to find. The pool and grounds of the property are warm and welcoming. Sophia, the bartender, was by far the highlight. She was so kind and attentive and made sure to remember my name and preferences. She also gave great recommendations for places to go to. Thanks to her, I ended up driving to Chania and Matala, both great spots in Crete. Unfortunately, the room itself left much to be desired. My room needed a deep clean and it smelled like mildew. All of my clothes were damp by the end of the trip when I went to pack and some of them even had mildew growth on them. Honestly, just a deep clean could go a long way. I found the beds to be very hard and uncomfortable. The water in my shower was freezing cold, never heating up, and I addressed this with the front desk, but it was not fixed. Honestly, I would stay at Galaxy again for the hospitality and location, but I do think that some of the faults of the room itself would need to be addressed and corrected before I would book another stay.

Arrived 16/09/2018 was told had overbooked, got sent to another holiday village. One small room, door had been forced opened didnt dare leave our cases and go out. 17/09/2018 returned to Galaxy Villas, to be put in a apartment not the villa i had paid for. Told the site was fully booked. Numerous things advertised not correct, could be a good holiday site if run properly.

From start to finish!.
A very well run, friendly and welcoming establishment. We were welcomed by "Super Mario" on arrival, shown to our rooms and everything was efficiently explained, there were no extra hidden costs as some other reviews suggested including the aircon & safe deposit box. We were not expecting anything "Hilton level" from Galaxy Villas but found our rooms cleaned daily, towels fresh always and our daughters pj's folded in a fan shape with her teddy propped up caringly on her pillow evry day! The bar was well staffed, a special mention to the great Apostoulis and Maria who showed great professionality and friendliness especially to all the children staying there and obviously enjoyed their job. The surrounding areas were again agreably fully stocked with good restaurants and bars- the shops selling a lot of local artiginal products ranging from linens, olive oil based creams, Ouzo etc.. The nearby beaches were well maintained and within easy reach, can highly reccomend the child friendly Aklios beach situated in a cove with rock caves to explore. Spinalonga (reached only by boat) was a fascinating historical trip followed by beaches and a BBQ. We met some lovely people at the Galaxy Villas.. our daughter and ourselves made some good friends during our stay which shows the type of people who chose to stay there and the family atmosphere we found. All in all a thoroughly pleasant stay that I would not hesitate to do again. Once again to all at the Galaxy Villas a BIG thank you.

Galaxy Villas
Spacious apartment, very close to restaurants, shops, car hire and the beach. Lots to do or laze around the pool. Apartment cleaned every day and beds made and depending on person cleaning you get a nicely decoratively folded PJs. We had a self catering appartment but facilities are minimal. So dont plan on cooking much. Lots of places to eat out or in the hotel.

We enjoyed our stay. We had one of the larger rooms on the ground floor opening out onto the garden with a sea view. Some of the smaller rooms nearer to the pool area did not look as nice. The pool area was ok but hard to get a sunbed most of the time and busy pool. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The whole place was very clean and well looked after.

Great location
First of all, to anyone on here - DO NOT BOOK THROUGH EXPEDIA. They have add on payments for the following: Baggage Transfers Breakfast etc. The hotel itself was okay, clean rooms, lovely staff and great location. However, there were a few issues we had. We had a ground floor apartment, which meant we could hear the family upstairs very loudly, especially when they were moving in their beds. It was very loud and continuously woke me up during the night. We are a young couple so it wasn't particularly troublesome, but our main issue was the 'balcony', which wasn't a balcony at all, but about a square metre of space that held a chair and a drying rack. This space was always in the shade, so when there were no sunbeds available round the pool (which was often) we couldn't even sunbathe on the 'balcony'. Apostolis was an absolute gem, all other staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The location was perfect, restaurants and cafes literally next door and only 15 minutes walk away from the beach. I would ultimately recommend this hotel to friends, but to make sure they purchased a upstairs apartment.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful location
We have stayed at the Galaxy Villas before and returned again due to the excellent service that we received last year. We were not disappointed. It was a special birthday for one of our party and we requested the same room as last year. This was provided for us to our delight. The hotel is set in lovely gardens and each apartment is private, There is no one on top of you!!!! There are steps taking you around the complex and to the apartments, so if you have mobility issues then this may not be ideal. The location of the apartments are ideal for us. You step out into the village which has plenty of restaurants, bars, supermarkets and shops. The restaurants are excellent, great food and very friendly locals. A special shout out to Café Greco with Galya, a lovely place to have a cocktail or two before heading back to your hotel or to go into town.The location of the village in the mountains means that you have the best of both worlds. You have the peace and quite of the village and down the hill the busy town of Herssonisos. You can walk to the main town but its not for the feint hearted! the way down is great, coming back is all uphill and a killer!!! Alternatively you can get a taxi which is only 7 Euros! We have been visiting Koultuloufari for a number of years now and have never tired of it. Its well worth a look.

Lovely staff but room was inadequate
We arrived at around 1am and had to call a number to be let in, the staff were lovely - the entire holiday. However, we were surprised by the room as the floor was an outside pavement material and within the hour I had a piece of glass stuck in my foot from the floor. This then happened a few days later to my partner with a much larger piece, luckily we were okay but disappointed we had to always wear shoes inside. The pool is a lot smaller than pictured and unbearably crowded during the day. No rule against reserving sunbeda and as we went out for breakfast at 10am, all of the sunbeda were taken by towels with only three people around the pool. The location was surprising, as its right at the top of a hill (very steep walk back from the beach) we were worried there wouldnt be a lot of restaurants about. But a five minute walk up the hill further, were plenty of bars and restaurants. Also, the drains blocked near the end of our stay and our room stank. Overall, a lovely location (a bit of a treck to a decent beach) with great, friendly staff. But we were disappointed by the small overcrowded pool and pool area, and the room not being very homely.

The staff at this complex are brilliant and are so accommodating and nothing is too much trouble for them , rooms clean and spacious , clean towels every 2nd day and cleaners in every day..and Demetris moved us to a lovely pool view room the morning after we arrived , which was brilliant of him. The resort is lovely and I would definitely return and recommend to anyone thinking of going.

Don't bother...
Awful. Not as described in pictures and would not recommend at all. They wouldn't even give us a refund even though we were unhappy. Don't ring the number on Google places as that is for their other hotel - this caused much confusion when we couldn't get parking. No room service even though a "4 star" hotel. Sprinkler in garden wet us whilst we ate breakfast (which we bought ourselves at the local shop because they had no protein for vegetarians). Grey bathroom was disgusting, you could see it had been spray painted because they couldn't be bothered to clean the grouting! Even pillows on the bed were horrible - not comfortable at all. There was no ventilation, meaning hat you had to leave the door open (yeh lets just get burgled) whilst on holiday....Dirty plates we had to wash before eating. Gardner was even seen wetting one woman's washing with his hose! Need I go on...I'd rather not. Don't bother staying. Ruined our anniversary. Not to mention the lack of privacy outside the room when we ate, as I looked across to see a tattooed chav staring over at us. Pool was also dirty, we ended up going to spa down the road and wished we'd stayed there instead! Not impressed by the hotel or the clientele for what's meant to be four star.

Great appartments and staff.
Great appartments. Excellent location for families. Staff all really nice and helpful. Even the cleaners were great. My bed was a bit harder than I'm used to so I put a blanket under my sheet to make it a bit softer. One of the cleaners must have noticed as when we got back to the appartment there was a 2" thick bed topper on it. Can't recommend this place high enough. The village is beautiful too.

It's not at all like the pictures, needs renovation, rooms are old, bed are very hard, pillows are flat. Staff is amazing, pool has a lot of chlorine, not enough chairs for the pool. Breakfast is 14 euros , you can go out side of the hotel, amazing bakery next door, pancakes 2 euros and 4.50 euros for egg breakfast. Great restaurants too.

Lovely picturesque villas
Galaxy villas is located in Koutouloufari which has lots of restaurants and gift shops. It is about a 15 minute walk down hill to the nearest town but beware the walk back up hill is hard work. The staff at Galaxy Villas are very helpful and friendly, especially Dimitris. The villas are either set around the pool or in the lovely tropical gardens which are quieter. Our villa was a good size with 4 balconies each having a lovely view. The air con was very much needed!!! I think our villa could have done with a little tlc and a facelift here and there, for example the paintwork needed touching up and perhaps a few more bits in the kitchen like a toaster. But overall we had a lovely stay and would recommend Crete and Galaxy Villas.

We loved every moment at Galaxy Villas. Breathtaking Garden and spacious rooms, absolutely super staff and just wonderful atmosphere. We felt welcome! Enjoyed the stay so much that we will definitely book a room at Galaxy Villas as soon as possible again. Thank you, everyone at Galaxy Villas!

Overall the building and facilities are showing their age. It was a very nice facility at one time. And our room was never properly cleaned while we were there. The floors were constantly dirty, the shower was dirty upon arrival. The beds were uncomfortable and the pillows were virtually non-existent. Funny enough the maid doesn't clean dishes either, but the room comes with nothing for you to clean them with either. I've never seen that before. The one shining point was the hotel front desk staff. They were very friendly and super helpful! They were the best part of our stay.

Charming Village
This delightful little complex is arranged like a Cretan village rather than a corporate hotel that could be anywhere. Villas and garden spaces are connected by a series of steps (this is not wheelchair friendly). There is an olive grove just below the pool area and lovely sea views. The village it is set in has restaurants, shops and views but without all the busy traffic in the town below.

The hotel is located near shops and restaurants. Staffs are very helpful and answers any needs quickly. Dimitris, Michael and Apostles are very warm and friendly made our stay pleasant. Thank-you.

The price is right
Wonderfully friendly and helpful staff. Nice common area and pool (although not 4star). The rooms were concrete and basic. Very basic 'kitchen'. The location and town the hotel in are wonderful. But even though the rooms were more 1star than 4star, overall it is great value for money in comparison with other accomodation on Crete.

We've arrived at the hotel during midday and as such had no trouble checking in. The staff was very pleasant and showed us around the whole complex. Fortunately we had an amazing view from our rooms, which is not the case for all villas. The rooms themselves were of basic standards, hardly fitting for a 4 star resort. However last thing we wanted to do is spend our entire holidays in a resort so it did not bother us so much. The next morning we gotten an amazing surprise - kittens!!! The whole island is swarming with stray cats but as soon as we opened the doors in the morning we were welcomed by curious young cats. Quickly we went to the supermarket and bought some cat food and pretty soon we had a whole group of cats to play around with. I haven't seen them being very intrusive so unless there is a sound of cat food rustling in your room, they should leave you well alone, but for us it was a massive treat to care for all those cats. One minor inconvenience we've encountered was that even though we requested one double bed, we had two single ones. The receptionist said that this did not show on their end and it was only a request which the hotel did not have to meet, which I've found a bit unprofessional, however he was very keen to sort us out the next day, as the hotel was fully booked, no hard feelings. Overall this was a very pleasant stay and I would recommend this hotel to everyone looking for a fair-priced hotel in a very good location and a must if you love cats

I booked this accommodation, on a combination of value for money and the positive reviews on Expedia from previous guests. We arrived in the early hours of the morning to find that our room was 'unavailable' due to an electrical fault but our room would be ready by about 10am, we were put up in the hotel next door, in a room that looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months (lots of dust/grime) with no working aircon. After a couple of hours of no sleep, we returned to Galaxy. Our room was not ready, so they offered us breakfast. Not the best, but as described, a basic continental offering. Room was finally ready by midday. We were given a villa that was situated underneath the sun lounge area. Because of our inconvenience, we were given free aircon (usually an €8 per night charge), a free room safe (€15 for that week) and free breakfast. We didn't use the free breakfast after the first day. It's fair to say a this point that the manager (?) Dimitris, was really helpful and tried hard to sort out these initially issues. Despite the 'electric issue' I must admit that the cynical side of me fees that there was a guest still in the room and that it was in fact double booked over that 24 hr period - but I must stress, I have no facts to base this on. Other issues were the fact that the pool is very small. Not an issue in itself, but there is nowhere near enough space around the pool for sunloungers to accommodate enough guests. room was cleaned and towels replaced once in a week

Excellent hotel, great location
From the outside this hotel doesn't look much, however once you are inside this is a different story. Hotel staff are excellent, the gardens are excellent, the apartment was excellent, spacious with two balconies, plenty of facilities, built in safe plus free air conditioning. The gardens are lovely and it is so peaceful there. It is located in a beautiful village in the mountains where there are plenty of good quality restaurants. The only downside to the hotel is if you have difficulty walking. It is situated on a mountain and therefore there are quite a few steps to navigate, this did not affect us but could other guests. Overall we have had an excellent holiday and the accommodation made a significant difference.

Excellent!
We absolutely loved our stay at Galaxy Villas, the village of Koutoulafari has plenty of amenities in the local area (I strong suggest a visit to Alex & Christines Meze a few minutes walk away and Global Sports next door which is surprisingly great for food and drink), the actual complex and villas were both clean and comfortable although we had a few issues when we first arrived (limescale in the kettle and oven wouldn't work, but both of these were replaced with brand new units the next morning!), the staff were helpful and incredibly polite. Overall we would return although it would be nice if the wifi worked (we had issues with it multiple times in the reception area just plain not working) or if the rooms had internet access, or at least the TV had more than 3 very basic channels (2 in another language and CNN in english). We paid very little per night (around £10-11) and genuinely cannot grumble at this price, I'd say it was a fantastic stay!
