We enjoyed wandering in amongst the old orchard and down through the copse, across the scrubland that forms part of the floodplain of the Tyne. "Beautifully maintained Castle and grounds. Room was exceptional, makes you feel like a king or queen. Nice quiet bar to have a drink, great dining room and quality food. Great cooked to order English breakfast. Everything was great. It set a stand for us for the rest of our castle hotel search. I would stay here anytime. One suggestion though is to have soothing, calming music at breakfast, as background music, instead of 'hit parade'."

Food in the restaurant saw very good (and we ate in every night). All of the staff were helpful and friendly (special mention to Jess on Reception). Overall, we enjoyed an excellent stay and would readily use the hotel again."
