Was a prefect location to do some outdoor adventures. Easy access to the lake for some ice fishing fun. Plenty of parking for family to come and go while visiting.Enough run for the group without running into each other.Enjoyed the stay
This was our second year at the chip lodge. we liked it so much the first year that we had to come back. the first year we showed up there was maybe 15 people and the house easily accommodated us. its a rustic vibe. things are old and perhaps that is the charm and what we like about it. the highlight for us is definitely the slow cruises on the pontoon boat as we explored the lake. The kitchen is huge and designed to feed a lot of people. Gary is a nice guy. He lives right next door which is helpful if you have any questions about the lake, boats, lures, fishing, and everything else. The view from the large deck is exceptional. Enjoy your stay here. I'd recommend this place for any large group.
We spent 7 glorious days at Skillys Big Chip Lodge and loved every minute of our stay. The lodge would be great for a family/group getaway but we found it was also perfect for just the two of us. Vintage & rustic chic - fish right off the dock & fall colors. Great host
The Chippewa Flowage is so beautiful. The host is super nice and friendly. Place is great for hunting/fishing trips, just could use a little updating/cleaning.
Building is old but it had everything we needed for cooking, fishing, tubing, and relaxing. Access to the bar was a hit with the kids. Owner was easy to work with and a great host.
Just stayed at the Big Chip escape. Pictures don't do justice to the unique and nostalgic cabin with the best view of the lake of any cabin on the Chip. Gary was hospitable and available whenever we had a question. The cabin itself is a unique North Woods experience with all of the features that a group from 5-14 would need.
Have been coming to Skilly's Big Chip Lodge for nearly 10 years and will continue to make the trip
The location is incredible overlooking Moore's Bay. Easy access to ice fishing and there is a private dock for the summer months. The bar room is the centerpoint of the cabin and makes an excellent spot for groups to gather. Gary is always available to answer questions or help out if needed.
We had a good time. Gary was super friendly and responsive. The bar was a great hanging olace for our family and friends. Thanks Gary!!!

Great fishing destination
Great location on a great big body of water that provided great fishing (once getting really good tips from Gary and local bait store) Really good conveniences on site like piers, firewood live minnows, fish cleaning house! The cabin is old school and very rustic. The bar is cool as is the deck.
Gary the owner was extremely nice and friendly.
All the fishing conveniences you could ask for!
We will be back
Our families enjoyed our stay at Skilly's Lodge. The building is somewhat rustic and shows it's age but has much character with the bar and all the lake memorabilia around. During the rainy days our group of 11 easily stayed entertained in the large bar area. All the nice days and afternoons we were on the lake. Lake access is very convenient. Fisherman will love the live bait shack next to the dock and the rental pontoon was perfect for our large group.
Thanks Skilly!
View was amazing. Cabin was interesting. We had a awesome time. The 15 seat bar is actually in your cabin. Not an active bar anymore but very cool. No bars in walking distance that were open. It was early November so i am sure most resort bars close down.
The lodge/cabin was everything you would want for an old Northwoods Wisconsin feel. So much history on the walls and on the bar. The bar had an amazing view of the lake, as did the deck and the fire pit. It might be a little on the rustic side for some, but it was perfect for us and exactly what one should expect from an old Northwoods cabin. The place was very room and had everything one would need for a big group and the easy access to the piers were great for keeping my boat close. Gary is an amazing host as well. Very knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. It was great to hear more from him about the property and the area. We would love to come back again in the future.
This was our 3rd year staying at this property. We are 6 adults and 5 kids ranging from 4 to 10 years old. The bar is a perfect way for all of us to enjoy time and meals together. The kitchen is stocked with all the cooking supplies that you will need. The lakefront is fantastic for playing/swimming in the water or docking your boat. The lake is wonderful for boating, jet skiing, fishing or going to a sandbar for lunch. Gary, the owner, is always available to answer questions, give fishing advice, sit at the campfire and sing songs or play guitar and be a great host. We have it booked again for next year!!
This was our 4th year at Big Chip Lodge. We really enjoy the lodge as it is right on the lake and we can swim and dock boats/jet ski on lakefront shore. We caught MANY fish right off the piers!! Gary, the owner, has minnows worms, and leeches for sale at a shed by the pier We love the size of the lodge as there are 11 people and a dog. The bar allows us to all eat/socialize/play games together, as well as watch TV and monitor the lakefront/shore area where children are playing. Absolutely love the new sliding patio door to the huge deck!! There is plenty of storage area in the kitchen and pantry for all food and 2 fridges and a huge freezer. There are plenty of bedrooms/sleeping areas for all to be comfy and private. The owner is right next door for questions and help or to come and have fun by the campfire. We also rent the pontoon for all to go out on the lake together. We highly recommend Big Chip Lodge and will continue to vacation there next year as well!!
This place is old and has a lot of history. And with that age and history comes a lot of quirks. If you are wanting a modern floor plan and everything straight and new this probably isn't the place for you. However, for our group it was perfect. The quirkiness and rustic charms were perfectly fine for us. The kitchen is designed for three people or more to cooking at the same time, which was a huge bonus for our group. There's no air conditioning in the main bar room which wasn't a big deal as the week we were there it was in the low 70s but there is two functional ceiling fans above the bar. 3 of the 4 bedrooms have window a/c.
If you like to fish the bait shop that is right there at the edge of the water on the property is pretty ideal. Access to the fishing and pontoon boats is a nice perk. Having Gary right next door is helpful. He's a very nice guy and a good resource to answer any questions you might have about the lake or fishing. The lake has many destination spots where the pontoon boat comes in handy.
We already booked the place again for next year so that sums it up.
