Charming Victorian small home, Parlor/dining room on first floor. Hardwood steps to second floor: sitting room, bedroom and bath. Lots of period furniture, small garden area aside house. Close to downtown Hawley, an old town with several great restaurants.
We loved staying in this house. So quaint. Only drawback was the musty smell that permeated our clothes, and the bathroom light quit working. (Fortunately it happened on the morning we were checking out.). We would have loved to be able to see the rest of the house.
Owners are super friendly and helpful in answering questions. House is two floors and features antique furniture with small dinette downstairs and tv room and bedroom upstairs. Has nice size yard with charcoal bbq and fireplace. Nice Owners.
Close to shopping and restaurants, close to riverwalk, and town has free bikeshare so we rode all over town! Owners were lovely.

I booked this for my retired parents and the Host was very helpful with pointing out the stairs, parking situation, etc. Unfortunately, they were only able to stay one of the three nights booked, due to my Mom experiencing an allergic reaction to something in the house. I would recommend the air quality be checked and HVAC system cleaned professionally. I was able to get other accommodations nearby, so my parents didn't have to cut their trip short. My mom was fine for the balance of the trip. Cute place and helpful host, but there is room for improvement.
We enjoyed the price of our stay but the pictures are a little misleading. Didnt get the whole house a lot of the house is closed off with locks and notes saying not to go on the other side

Convenient location and good value.
No one appeared to be staying in the adjoining property. Thus, it was a very private place. Good value.
the house has historic character., very close to town. many rules noted throughout the home with sticky notes in every room of what not to touch including the electric heaters we could not move off setting 1 and it was negative temps other than that it was a deal financially.

The house was adorable! .... the furnishings were very comfortable !!!
This property has so much charm. I loved the antique decor. There was more space than I expected, you have a small eating area, sitting area, bedroom and bathroom. The house may not be for you if you want to just stay inside but there’s so many fun things to do around town it’s perfect for a home base.
While we were looking for a 40th wedding anniversary getaway where we eloped 40 years ago in Hawley, we found this 1860 house. We were under the impression from the pictures that we were renting the entire house. It wound up being 3 small rooms and a bathroom, while the rest was all behind locked doors you were not allowed to enter. The T.V. in the T. V. room would only play for 3 minutes, then it said trial over. This happened on every channel we tried. The T.V. in the bedroom worked, but was very tiny. The poster bed was nice but it blocked the view of the t.v. Because of covid barely anything was open. We stayed 1 night and left, but we prepaid for 4 and you would think the owner would have offered a partial refund. The pictures showed a spiral staircase which we never saw as it was not in our small area of the house. It was also very close to the street with loud traffic. The picture of the house must have been taken 20 years ago after a fresh paint, because it now is very dirty and run down and needs lots of exterior work.
We enjoyed our stay here and found the house to be in a nice area to be able to enjoy the area. The dog walk Into the town being so close To the house was a wonderful surprise
Very pleased with this property. Very clean and beautifully decorated. We were out & about quite a bit so we weren't able to watch much TV but it was nice to have the chairs in the other room if we would have needed to use them. We were a little worried about not having a kitchen but the fridge (although not full-sized and we knew that when we came) was actually a pretty nice size and we were able to fit some foods that we brought from home. We still did enjoy eating out--The Settler's Inn is a little pricey but the food is good. :) I did not give 5 stars for location only because the property is very close to the road. Not a deal breaker because this property is a very good deal for the price that we paid and,
Had a nice time at the house. It was a great older style home that gives you the experience like Living in old days. Would definitely stay again. And look forward to seeing the rest of house get fixed up and finished and have more open to enjoy in the home.
