The hotel is excellent. The location, unfortunately, is not. Hartford is not exactly a place to hang out in, and after work is done, the city seems to shut down. There's not much to do except attend a basketball game, which is what we were there for, but the hotel itself has everything you need. Honestly, if you need to stay the night in Hartford, I would recommend the Goodwin because you literally don't need to leave since it has everything.

We didn’t really use many of the hotel’s amenities, but the breakfast was decent. The hotel is definitely a boutique property, although it did give off a little bit of a The Shining vibe—probably more because of the style and atmosphere than anything else. That said, it was nicely modernized, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The valets were excellent and very helpful. If you’re not using the valet service, though, parking is not particularly convenient and there aren’t many good options. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, with friendly staff and a unique atmosphere.

The hotel was very nice. Staff was wonderful. Room was clean. The only thing I didnt like was they didnt change my sheets, they took my original bed sheets, and simply tucked it back to the bed. Most hotels replace it entirely and make the bed. Breakfast was very low end like cereal and water..no options to eat breakfast. No restarant just a bar downstairs with Tapas and very limited on openings. I didnt mind as more places were available outside the hotel, but still it was a nice place to stay. I do plan on returning becuase they made me feel welcome and with respect. I value that over anything.

The hotel is unique and very well decorated, the staff was pleasant and helpful, and the location is within walking distance to restaurants and entertainment. The reason for a lower star rating is the room was very warm despite having the air turned as cool as possible our room was 78 degree’s and the continental breakfast was extremely sub par especially considering the price of the hotel. There was a waffle maker, packets of oatmeal, yogurt and some fresh fruit (apples & clementines).

Arrived around 8 pm to hotel. Guy at the reception was helpful and told me that he could see in the system I had asked for the extra bed included in the room. That it should be ready. Had written 2 days in advance for the extra bed to be made. Stayed in one of their suites. Extra bed was not there It was unclear if the sofa in the room was a a sofa bed or not. When I called the front desk they apologized and told me they would send someone from housekeeping. 1 hour later someone from valet car services comes to the room to let me know there is no one from housekeeping. Tells me there is a sofa bed in room. Tells me everything needed is in the closet. Offcourse there were no pillows or comforters in the closet. After another hour sheets were changed and a pillow was brought. Room was banged up. Floors were sticky. Personnel did all they could in all fairness.

The hotel was very clean. Staff were friendly. Housekeeping was very nice. The continental breakfast was okay, I was hopeful for bit more options. The main elevator was under maintenance but alter service elevator was available. Waking distance to State Capitol building and performing arts. I got lost looking for the entrance coming from the back side through Goodwin Square; maybe clear signage at that end will be helpful for others. Overall very nice, and clean with hotel. I would definitely stay again.

Great location, clean hotel with friendly staff. The king bed was comfortable. Our main issue was that suite didn’t have bedding for the sofabed, so we had to call down for it. It took nearly 30 minutes to receive, which was a significant inconvenience when we were trying to go to bed. Note also that the suite does not have a door separating the bedroom and sitting area. The included continental breakfast had no protein options offered, so we had to go out for breakfast.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Goodwin Hotel. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the hotel itself has a lot of character and charm. A great place to stay—would definitely return!
