"The Poas Volcano Lodge is a magnificent piece of architecture. The rooms are huge, the beds and other furnishings are all top quality, and the woodwork is very impressive. The common areas are grand and inviting, the grounds are verdant with a few impressive sculptures. The off-season rates are very reasonable. We loved it! The one area that has room for improvement is the restaurant. Although the staff was very friendly, the meals were average at best. There seemed to be poor communication between the front desk and the restaurant staff regarding pre-ordered breakfast."

"Breakfast was a full tico style breakfast and the service was excellent. There are trains running nearby so a little noise but that’s probably everywhere in this neighborhood. I highly recommend. Great value for the price. "
