Fosshotel Stykkisholmur

8/10 Good

"On the positive side, the hotel common areas and room were very clean and the breakfast was fantastic. The location is nice and is set on a hill looking over the town. The bed was super comfortable and we slept very well. On the not so great side, there was no staff member present for about 10 minutes when trying to check in. Further, for what we paid, I would have expected something better than the small, old tv in the room. For the price we paid for one night you could double the size and quality of the tv. There were also only very limited channel selections. Also, as a Gold member, I would have hoped for an upgrade to a better view as we overlooked the roof and not much more. We stayed at 5 different Fosshotels in Iceland and this is the only one that we had mixed feelings on. Mostly because we feel that we overpaid for what should be a mid range hotel. Particularly when compared to other Fosshotels."

"We stayed here for one night as we toured through Iceland. I wish we had longer, as the property is pretty with sheep roaming around. It was fun to hear "baaa" outside of our windows during the night! The common area was sufficient for our family of four adults. Parking was next to building, and sidewalk was smooth to roll suitcases to the end unit. The ~24 hrs of sunlight gave us extra time to see the sights as we passed through, This place is incredibly quiet, and I felt guilty making noise as we came in at midnight and left early the next morning. If your crowd is rowdy, it is something you may want to consider. We did not get a chance to try the restaurant, and I was sad that it didn't work out. Everything looked wonderful. Everything was beautiful and clean, and we would stay again on our next trip through Iceland."

"What a joy this hotel was after our journey along the Ring road. Nestled in a quiet spot next to the historic church; rests this lovely and serene hotel. The hotel reminds me of a modern nordic cabin, with beautifully designed rooms, modern baths, beds with luxe bedding and fabulous showers and amenities; plus an onsite restaurant with a delicious local menu. Book room 215, it was our favorite stay in Iceland."
