The rooms are accessible through a steep ladder and a trap door. All rooms and the shared bathroom are extremely basic and tiny. On the bright side, the rooms are sufficiently heated and provide shelter ... and in the absence of sufficient alternative accommodation, that is worth a lot already.

A wonderful space to relax and appreciate Grimsey xx fab coffee and we had the whole house to ourselves. Anne-Marie was kind enough to let us stay until the ferry left at 4pm

A good place to stay in Grimsey...

I had a nice stay at Guesthouse Gullsól. Small but cosy and very clean room. I was afraid of the shared bathroom, but it worked well, no stress at all. A good place to stay one or two nights.

This unique property is close to the ferry, no car needed. Puffins are everywhere in June and July! Lovely hikes. There is a complete kitchen and nice sitting area. There is a small store with limited hours and a resetaurant very close to the property. Rooms are very cozy.

Cosy, clean and convenient - this 100 year old property had the quirks and character you can expect somewhere like Grimsey. Clearly not designed for the less mobile with access up a virtual ladder through a wooden flap. Shared toilet for five rooms on same floor. Centrally located next to harbour, restaurant and shop. Shame about the boy racers on noisy motorbikes given that Grimsey sells itself on get away from it all peace and quiet. Bring own breakfast as shop only open 3-4 - adequate kitchen available. Hot dog stall available as well as restaurant. Stick provided for walk around this remarkable place - due to defensive arctic terns in some parts. Ferry takes 3.5 hours not 3 hours as advertised. Can be choppy. Puffins everywhere (including on the menu)!

My room was very cozy and comfortable. I opened my window at night and it was so nice to hear nothing but the birds singing. The guest house is very well maintained and I enjoyed talking with Anna Marie and her mother. I would like to thank Anna Marie for her help in getting back my passport which I had left in my room. I can never re-pay her for that. I hope to visit Grimsey again in the not too distant future. Thank you.

We were lucky enough to have this place all to ourselves because we were early in the season. The owner is lovely and very accommodating. She runs the tiny cafe and store downstairs, so she is easy to access if needed. She clearly cares about this property and keeps it clean and updates things as needed (the new couches were lovely!). There are only a few options for stays on Grimsey Island, but this one is wonderful!

Absolutely amazing, cozy, like being at home, very clean with everything needed was provided. privacy but also great friendliness and consideration from everyone! Beautiful view of the sea. I love Guesthouse Gullsól and hope to return ! Highly recommend!
