About this property

Traut Cabin - Mountain Views & Family Friendly

  • Traut Cabin is a newly renovated log cabin at the foot of the Bighorn Mountains. It was thoughtfully designed with adventurous couples and families in mind. The cabin has easy access to hunting, hiking, exploring, and skiing while still providing all the comforts of home.

    One bedroom (queen), one bathroom, with a loft (queen). Common areas have a sofa sleeper (full) and a deluxe cot (twin). The living room, kitchen, and dining share the open space and all have mountain views! The loft provides a cozy space for kids and the young at heart to enjoy and explore.

    The kitchen is small but mighty, and is stocked with all the necessities and a few bonus items.

    There is a smart TV for guests to enjoy their own streaming services on. A stocked bookcase with books, board games, and cards is also provided!

    The cabin is located on a hill, which gives it an elevated view of the Bighorn Basin and Bighorn Mountains. Guests will drive around a 14 acre pasture, up the hill, and cross the bridge over the irrigation canal before reaching the home.

    **In inclement weather, we strongly recommend 4-wheel drive or AWD**

    **Cell service is provided only via WiFi. There is not traditional cell service or a landline at this property**

    We have a local caretaker who is available to assist on-site. The owner is also available via phone 24/7.

Cozy Cabin

This cabin was a little piece of luxury on our trip to Big Horn! It is beautifully decorated and the hosts thought of everything, from board games and books to cute and cheeky sayings to help you find what you need. It was a wonderful stay and I highly recommend it if you are in the area!

Bighorn Mountain Hiking

Great launching point for adventurers in the Bighorn Mountains. Very clean and well cared for. Love the view on the front deck of the mountains. Would stay here again in a second.

We really loved staying here! It was close enough to Greybull to get groceries, but far enough away for peace and quiet. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed and more. We were looking for a place for some R&R with our 4 kids, and it was the perfect spot. We enjoyed playing games, reading Swiss Family Robinson from the bookcase, and sitting around the firepit making smores. We drove into Shell and up into the Bighorns to the Antelope Butte ski area. We will definitely stay here again if we get the chance!

The Traut Cabin is an incredible VRBO property! The detail taken to make this cabin a “home away from home” superseded all expectations. Pictures do not capture the beautiful views from the cabin with justice. Breathtaking views in person! The location is central to so many adventures - Cody, Yellowstone, Bighorn Mountains…. Great attractions within a 5 mile radius too. You just have to watch for the clues via highway signs. We highly recommend the Traut Cabin!
