About this property
Peaceful Rogue Riverfront Home on 3 Acres!
Tranquil Riverfront Retreat on Three Private Acres
Welcome to The River House, a peaceful retreat along Oregon’s Wild and Scenic Rogue River. Situated on three private acres with approximately 300 feet of river frontage, this comfortable home is an ideal destination for rafting, fishing, hiking, wildlife watching, family time, or simply relaxing beside the water.
We believe a vacation rental should feel welcoming and well supplied from the moment you arrive. We have gone out of our way to provide the everyday essentials guests often find missing from vacation rentals. You’ll find generous supplies of towels, toilet paper, paper towels, garbage bags, soaps, and other household necessities—so you can settle in and enjoy your stay without immediately shopping for basics.
The recently remodeled and tastefully furnished home features three comfortable bedrooms with quality linens and plush pillows, along with two full bathrooms stocked with plenty of towels and toiletries.
The fully equipped kitchen features stainless-steel appliances, spices, pantry staples, and an extensive assortment of cookware and small appliances. A mixer, blender, food processor, waffle maker, griddle, crockpots, and much more make it easy to prepare everything from a quick breakfast to a family dinner.
Step outside onto the expansive 16-by-40-foot deck, where you can fire up the gas grill, unwind in the hammock, enjoy an outdoor meal, or gather together after a day on the river. Play horseshoes with a river view or take advantage of the spacious grassy front yard and backyard areas for games and family fun.
A natural wildlife trail leads to the property’s private gravel beach. Bring a folding chair and spend the day fishing, swimming, wading, or simply relaxing at the water’s edge. Because the trail follows the property’s natural terrain, some guests may find the incline steep and should use their own judgment when accessing the river.
The River House is located just downstream from Brushy Chutes, an area known for salmon and steelhead fishing. Ample parking is available for cars, trucks, and boats, and the Robertson Bridge boat launch is approximately one mile away.
After a day of adventure, return to the home’s peaceful surroundings, comfortable gathering spaces, and upgraded high-speed internet. Outdoor fires may be enjoyed when seasonal regulations and local fire restrictions permit.
Dog-Friendly Amenities
Dogs are welcome with prior host approval. Please contact us before booking to tell us about your dog. A one-time $50 pet fee and pet policy apply.
A large fenced dog run, added in 2025, provides approved canine guests with a secure outdoor space during their stay.
Whether you’re planning an adventure-filled Rogue River vacation or a quiet retreat surrounded by nature, The River House offers a welcoming combination of privacy, comfort, thoughtful amenities, and unforgettable riverfront scenery.

We had such a wonderful time staying at the River House! It was perfect for our group and was well equipped for everything we needed. It was clean and comfortable, giving us a perfect place to retreat after spending time seeing the sights around Southern Oregon. Sarah and Stephen were great to communicate with, too. Thank you—we would love to stay again!
The stay was exactly as we envisioned. We were able to relax next to a scenic river or enjoy family time around the campfire. The rooms and amenities met every one of our needs. The family is already discussing a future trip to this property.
Sarah and Stephen have a wonderful place. They were easy to contact and made checking in and out super easy. The house was well stocked and clean! Can’t wait to go back!
The dog run made staying with our dogs so nice and easy. There are deer everywhere. Very peaceful setting. They have really thought of every little detail. We would definitely stay here again!
Absolutely wonderful stay! Beautiful home and great location. Super clean and well stocked with basic necessities. Comfortable beds and clear instruction from host for check in and check out. We loved hanging out on the deck and the river access was actually better than I thought it would be. We even saw a fox run through the backyard. Thanks for letting us stay!
Very quiet & relaxing with large deck & park like backyard with large pines & view of Rogue River. The house was supplied with the widest varieties of kitchen appliances & accessories etc than any other VRBO we’ve stayed at. We ate all of our meals this vacation cooked at the home. So this attribute made cooking all meals very easy.
Booked this for the Fourth of July weekend, my wife and I and some friends.Beautiful setting! The house is great, well set up & lots of room.Spent all day at the river. It was just right, not too cold or too hot. Was shallow enough that you could wade out way to chest deep easy. Our dog loved it too! Our hosts were excellent, stayed in contact with us and even let us check in early. Great stay we really enjoyed it!
This was a beautiful property to stay on for a holiday weekend. We enjoyed the fall colors and fire pit. The river access is pretty steep and was hard for my handicap son to access but we were able to get him to the river with a lot of support. The house was really clean and there are a lot of fun games and puzzles.
We had a great time it was a beautiful place.
We went down to the river and played with our dog.we played horseshoes and backgammon. It was awesome watching the deer roam through the yard in the evening we had black tail deer and mule deer.
Hands down, one of the best VRBO properties we have ever visited. Spotlessly clean and everything you could possibly need included on the property. Very grateful that pets are allowed. We had a fabulous time and so did our dog. The river was lovely and we enjoyed watching the boats and wildlife. Also found some wonderful parks in the area if you are looking for additional walking areas.
Enjoyed the property and house. Very clean and comfortable. Yard was huge and had wildlife roaming through. Access to the lake was a little sketchy but doable. Internet sucks so don’t plan on watching tv.
The checkin process ( allowed early checkin) was seamless. The house as promised. Everything in working order. Opened the umbrellas on the back porch so we could identify the house while on the jet boat tour on the river. Will stay again!
This is our second stay in a property managed by Cherry. Both times our experience has be excellent. The properties are located in a more rundown section of town, which is the only downside. They are close to grocery stores and restuartants. The property was clean, cute and secure. You won't regret staying here.
My wife and I had a peaceful four night stay at Stephen and Sarah's home along the Rogue River while we were in the area to attend our youngest son's wedding. The neighbors to the north and south (about 50 yards on either side of the home) are quiet and respectful folks. The path down to the river is a little steep, but easily manageable. Saw a female deer one morning along the river, in addition to numerous ducks and two herons. The kitchen is very well equipped and especially caters to people who like wine - plenty of red and white wine glasses and six corkscrews :). Truly enjoyed our visit.
This was our 1st time staying in this home and it was just perfect for us! We were in town for a family wedding in Merlin so location was great. Clean and AC temp perfect upon arrival. Very quiet neighborhood...Home nicely decorated, nice furnishing, comfortable beds with nice linens and bedding (and the 2 rollaway beds were just right for our 11 and 7 y/o granddaughters), kitchen nicely stocked, large variety of family games, newish washer and dryer.
The back deck and yard was our favorite hang-out! Adequate gravel beach/play area where the kids played in the river and us adults sat in the beach chairs provided by the hosts oooo'ing and awwww'ing at the eagles flying and fishing... and of course, waving at the jet boats zooming by!
Very clear instructions about check in and check out. Communication with hosts was prompt.
We are looking for reasons to go back! Would definitely recommend staying at this property.
We rented this home for a week to get friends and family together for a summer wrap up. The house was great for a group of our size! There was plenty of space, extra roll away beds if needed, and was the most well stocked rental home we have had. There was an issue with a broken pipe to the well but the homeowner was VERY responsive and got it fixed very quickly. We did have issues with yellow jackets but we went and got traps and enjoyed watching the stinging suckers go down. If you have anyone in your group with mobility issues the short walk to the river is steep and may be difficult to manage. Overall, we will be utilizing this property again and would recommend it to others!
This property was a great place for our family vacation this year. We had 5 adults and 2 children under age 5.
The house was in excellent shape with a well stocked kitchen. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of linens and towels. The gas grill on the deck was in great shape!
It was nice to be so close to the river. The walk to the river includes a short steep hill. There is a rope provided to help with the climb. Due to the proximity of the house, the internet was a little weak. We were able to use hotspots to give us the strength we needed to view emails and stream movies.
Stephen and Sarah were responsive and wonderful to work with. They were flexible with us when we needed to make small changes to the agreement.
We would definitely go back again!
We stayed at The River House to gather as a family (driving from as far as Burns and Eugene/Corvallis) and celebrate my husband’s apprenticeship turnout graduation. Our plan was to float the Rogue River and be able to float up to the house at the end of the river trip, which we DID and it was awesome. The house itself was very clean and comfortable - beds are VERY comfortable and pillows too, not cheap like a lot of vacation rentals. Same with bathroom towels and wash clothes, all quality linens. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could ever need and the pantry too! They even have a crockpot which we used to make pulled pork sliders for after the river float. The yard is steeper than expected, for some reason the photos look flatter than it is. The trail to the river was more of a trek than expected as well, but was do-able even for my 75 year old mother and my 19week pregnant self! (Rope at the bottom is helpful). The current was minimal so safe for the dog and kids. We lost power during our last night there which made the home extremely hot (to be expected during the first weekend of August in Grants Pass/Merlin!), but the owners responded to my messages right away and were very gracious in other ways to try to offset the inconvenience of no power or running water. They even mailed back a pair of glasses that a family member mistakenly left at the house, which was above and beyond kind! We will definitely stay at this house again!
This is a lovely home to stay if you love, peace and quiet, the sound of birds, the river and the wind flowing through the leaves. This is the place for you! Who ever she has clean that house cleans it immaculately. It’s a very extremely clean home. When they say that they have everything you could need in a house, they are not kidding. Don’t plan on bringing anything with you, they have it all there. There is plenty of nature around you. We got to see a family of deer while we were there, as well as otters and an American Eagle. This was without leaving the property, nature right in your own backyard. It was a lovely stay so glad we rented this property.
Beautiful and comfortable. Sitting on the deck is so relaxing. We saw deer everyday. Great fishing close to the house. Check out Griffin Park. Pet friendly. Check-in and out was easy. The host is very friendly.
