Honeycomb Waterfront Lakehouse with deep water dock
Gather together at Camp Runamuck for a unique getaway! A Honeycomb treasure, this delightful waterfront home offers fabulous views and the best fishing, swimming and boating on Lake Guntersville. Known as a lucky fishing spot, folks have caught trophy fish right off the dock!
Sit back and relax on the screened porch, sunbathe and swim on the party dock, or grill on the covered patio while you prepare meals in the well-equipped kitchen. Also a great retreat in the cooler weather with two fireplaces, outdoor firepit, and festive holiday decor!
The kitchen contains more equipment than usual as we have many stock pots, serving trays, a blender, pitchers, etc.
The house is situated on a hill affording a fantastic view that follows long stone steps to the dock. A TVA public boat launch is directly across Highway 431, less than a mile from the house. You are welcome to tie your boat off on our private boat dock. The driveway is steep and while it is accessible to fishing boats, it is not appropriate for the trailering of large boats down it. If you intend on bringing a boat, please notify us either before or after booking.
Just 30 minutes from Huntsville and 10 minutes from downtown Guntersville, you can choose seclusion or shopping and nightlife.
The living room features a working fireplace with ample seating. We have a flat screen tv with a Roku so you can log into your personal streaming accounts.
Three private bedrooms (a king, queen, and double) sleep six. Three twins (two with trundles) and a queen sleeper sofa add seven additional sleepers.
There are two full baths upstairs and downstairs, but you might rather use the private hot/cold outdoor shower in warm weather.
This lake house has been in the family since the late 60’s and it retains its cozy, laid-back charm. We look forward to you enjoying it as our guest! Please reach out if you have any questions!

My friends and I absolutely loved this place, the view was beautiful and the location was prime. I love the Guntersville area and we are already discussing a return trip!
Family girls trip. Just the place to relax by the water. Plenty of beds. Fully stocked kitchen. Plenty of linens. Very peaceful place to stay. Private and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
This lake house was Great, Very clean and beautiful view of the lake. Easy to dock the boat and nice place to swim.
The kitchen has everything you can need for a stay . I highly recommend this lake house for a nice family getaway...
Too cold to enjoy the water during our stay, but the accommodations were wonderful. Greatly enjoyed the stay. Had enough rooms and room to occasionally hide away and read a good book! Gorgeous view of the water.
Family trip for Spring Break. The house was very clean and inviting. We enjoyed fishing from the dock and relaxing! It is situated in a very quaint nook. Would definitely rent again!
Thoroughly enjoyed our extended family vacation week at Camp Runamuck. Plenty of spaces for all of us, and the screened porch was a favorite. Found everything we needed for the kitchen, dining area, grill, and dock. Lounge, boat, float, eat, sleep, repeat!
The property description was accurate. It was just what we needed for a large family (13 people) gathering. The view is great from the deck and the water was perfect for swimming and boating.
Traveled in town for a volleyball tournament with our daughters. This place gave us the perfect spot to rest and relax after a full day of games with the added bonus of a beautiful atmosphere and scenery. We travel a good bit and look for places that are quiet and comfortable. This place was perfect. Would come back here again and again.
We loved the screened in porch good size kitchen for cooking. Nice outdoor cooking with lights seating . Cozy and comfortable for family of 8. Convenient location. Just what we need for relaxing and catching up time with family . Great communication with MS. Janet. Thanks for sharing runamuck cabin. ❤️
We loved staying in this cabin with our family totaling10 members. Cookies were waiting on our arrival. Kind touch. It was very clean inside and we were all very comfortable. We had plenty of room and everyone had a comfortable place to sleep. It is very old, feels full of history— It has a lot of decor collected over the years that is very interesting and makes the cabin feel cozy. Nice kitchen with everything we needed stocked. Our favorite spot was the screened in porch. We made sweet memories. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us.
We live locally but had friends visiting with a larger family than our home could accommodate--SO GLAD we found this home to share with them! 😁
There was plenty of space for sleeping, cooking, dining, lounging, playing, relaxing, group activities & personal time. The house was well furnished & full of interesting history (photos, collections, etc.), in addition to being comfortable and homey.
The lake provided daily opportunities for water entertainment (swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, duck & heron watching), & the screened in porch--surrounding a huge tree & overlooking the lake--was a favorite spot for coffee time & conversation!
The location was also convenient for activities in the surrounding area (Huntsville, Scottsboro, Guntersville, Grant.), and the owner was promptly responsive when we had questions. 👍
There's really useful access, property & local information in the guide provided by the owner--read it before your arrival to make the most of your trip! I would highly recommend this property if you're looking for a place to relax and rejuvenate or to base your vacation adventures out of! 😁👍👍
We were looking for a nearby relaxing venue for Christmas. This house fit the bill! It is cozy, yet spacious and filled with family memorabilia. It was very comfortable. The view of the lake was great! Kitchen is well appointed. We were able to pull off a rather ambitious Christmas dinner with just a few added supplies. The home was beautifully decorated for Christmas complete with a gorgeous Christmas tree! All we had to do was stash our gifts under the tree and Christmas was on! Bedrooms were comfortable; bathrooms clean, and well supplied with towels, etc. Kitchen was clean. Janet's response to any of my questions were prompt, very sweet, and helpful. The driveway is really steep. Not a criticism- just something to know. It took us a little getting used to, but we easily navigated it in no time. We had a great time for Christmas in this home! It was just the perfect, peaceful, comfy retreat. I can only imagine what this home would be like in the warmer months! I am a complete hotel/rental snob, and I would highly recommend this home!
This property was great! Served our purpose of low key relaxation perfectly. Everything was as described. The view was spectacular. The beds were comfortable. We came in the winter so didn’t get to use all the outdoor fun. But it looked like a great place to sit and relax and enjoy nature. There were restaurants in Guntersville. But our favorite was a place called Grandmother’s House in South Owens Cross Roads just off of 431 to the west. All your southern favorites. Great waitstaff. A real hidden gem. The only tricky part was finding it in the dark. lol! The driveway is shared and is mailbox has the neighbors address of 686 Snug Harbor. But if you look up at the utility pole there is an arrow that says 722 and points to the property. The cabin is the one immediately to the left. Driveways and roads are steep in the area as it is on the side of a mountain. We had no trouble navigating in our minivan but did say it could be tricky with ice and snow. It’s just a heads up if you are unfamiliar with the area and would apply to any property. So don’t let this deter you. It is a lovely place to stay. The host was very communicative and a delight to work with. We would 100% come here again.
Great place, lots of character.Host was welcoming and available.Great amenities- anything you could want for the kitchen!Also- comfortable beds and furniture
Very welcoming host and property. The beds have some sort of magical properties that had us snoozing so peacefully. We never sleep on trips and we slept wonderful. Quaint house on the lake. We had a great time relaxing. 7 adult women, we had plenty of space and enjoyed the porch. Only downside was needed a few more comfy chairs inside. We enjoyed our weekend!
I can’t say enough how lovely and relaxing this cabin was. We felt at home immediately. The decorations take you down memory lane. Plenty of gathering spaces and room to be together or relax on your own. Our goat was gracious and very accommodating. Thank you so much for allowing us the experience. We would love to stay again.
My family totally loved this home and lake access. Hostess was quick to answer questions and made our stay wonderful. Future stays are definitely in our plans. Kids loved the pier and swimming. Stairs in yard are great.
