Beautiful large property in a gorgeous setting. The host was friendly and helpful, he was there late at night to check us in and help us find it in the dark! The views are stunning and the house is really spacious and the pool is fabulous. We had a wonderful stay at this property thank you!

Great area to rest and relax. Beautiful scenery. The house is very large. Great kitchen. Mostly all positive. If I had to be picky, I would say the water is not drinkable, so you need to buy bottled water. Also, the upstairs bathroom had a funny smell, expected in with older homes. We had a great stay.

Breath-taking View

We loved our stay at this house! The view is absolutely amazing, the pool is heated and the house is roomy. The bedrooms upstairs have air conditioning and are super comfortable. I highly recommend this vacation destination!

Can’t beat the view

We felt very lucky to have found your lovely farmhouse. The old olive press was very interesting. The house was huge, comfortable, the hosts were very welcoming and the location was perfect for us. It was close enough to Porto, Pinhao, Guimarães, and on a beautiful bend of the Douro River. Thank you so much!

Amazing house, view and location

The house was beautiful and the location perfect. We enjoyed being in the "country" and out of Porto central. The town of Melres is quaint, folks are very nice, and the view of the Douro River lovely. Recommend this house for couples, families and groups. Loved our experience.

Douro and Porto

We loved our stay overlooking the Douro River. What a splendid view; great for early morning coffee or late afternoon wine. It was a quick trip into Porto to enjoy the sites. We approached Porto from the Gaia side. Kitchen is good for making a few meals. This place did not disappoint! Thank you António and Diego.

Wonderful

From start to finish the booking process was easy and answered all my messages. The photos dont do it justice, the villa is beautiful and so big for a family of 6 with wonderful views. We had a perfect holiday and had Diogo to cook for us 1 night which was lovely traditional portugeuse food. Perfect holiday for us all with everything we needed. Thank you!

Gorgeous home with views over river Douro :)

Had a lovey stay in this beautiful villa which had so much space and the most amazing views over the river. Pictures on site do not do home justice. Able to drive into Porto easily and was also advised that a bus runs hourly from bottom of road to Porto. Came back feeling refreshed and relaxed. Thanks for 'sharing' this home Luis!

Lovely Stay in a Beautiful Villa

We were very delayed for our arrival, but the family very kindly waited to show us around the villa. Beautiful location looking over the river. However, there is a bit of road noise which is mostly noticeable early morning. There are a couple of bars/ restaurants a few minutes drive or 15-20 minutes walk with good prices. Lots of walks through the hills. Kitchen has plenty of equipment. Nice bedrooms and bathrooms. Overall a lovely villa in a beautiful location.

Location and views were fantastic as described. The house is very spacious with lots of excellent vantage points. Only a few items not up to par. En-suite bathroom light was not functioning and adequate number of cushions for lounge seating around pool is needed. Pool area could use a new umbrella. Main floor bedroom mattress is very hard. Communication with host prior to and during visit was very good.

Amazing property

As others have said, the photographs do not do this wonderful property justice. This is a very large house on large very private grounds. The views from the pool area and the house over the river Douro are spectacular and really do take your breath away. Luis is a fantastic host, who was there to meet us on check in with his lovely family. He gave us a tour of the house and explained everything. We had an issue with air con while there which was quickly dealt with and communication throughout our stay was very good, always on hand to answer questions and help with local information. The house itself is very well equipped and spacious. We had a fantastic time and would love to return sometime.

Spacious villa with amazing view

Luis was very helpful meeting us at the villa and giving us some local tips. Stunning view - we never tired of looking over the river. Property is much more spacious than it appears in the photos & very comfortable. A minor point but the outdoor furniture could do with a refresh, The house was clean and well cared for. It was great to have such a well equipped large kitchen with 2 ovens, would be perfect for a large group, Kids loved the pool so we spent most of the time at the villa & really enjoyed the outdoor space & drinks on the upper balcony. It’s not a particularly touristy area but we liked that, plus we had combined with a few days in nearby Porto first so were ready to relax. We did go to a local restaurant a couple of times and hired a big paddleboard at the river beach, Luis recommended a vineyard to us but we didn’t manage to visit, although we tried the wine which was lovely! Overall a great stay for a very reasonable price.

It really is all about the view!

Friends of ours rented this wonderful house about one year ago and that is when it caught my eye. We actually planned part of our trip around the house. It is about a half hour drive from Porto and about an hour and a half to Douro Valley. We made day trips to both areas no problem. Our arrival came after a busy and full day in Porto and we all just sighed in relief as we drove into the driveway. The house has a spectacular view of a bend in the Douro River. Watching it change from evening to night to morning was great. We all wished we hadn’t been so busy and could have spent more time relaxing there. We cooked in the well-supplied kitchen two out of three nights mostly so we could eat outside in peace and enjoy the view. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. We had a couple of issues we had to deal with but António was right on it and nothing was a big deal. I know some people want everything to be perfect but seriously the view makes up for any issues that may come up. Hope to stay again!!

Property was as described in the outline. Great location, an amazing view. Lots of room for 3 couples. It was the attention to details that caused us to only rate it 3 stars. Too many little items that need improvement. Main bathroom on 2nd floor smelled, and algae growth at the bottom of the shower door. Lights in upstairs onsuite bathroom not functioning. No toaster in kitchen, had to purchase our own toaster. All the beds except the single beds need the mattresses replaced. Kitchen lacking measuring cups and toaster oven was not working. The seats by the fireplace in the living room, no little tables to put your drinks on. Hopefully you will take these suggestions as ideas to make the villa a true 5 star destination. We did enjoy our stay and all the WhatsApp communication before arrival, while there, and during leaving was excellent. Rick

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home outside of Porto. The house itself was spacious, comfortable, and very well maintained. The kitchen was large and well-equipped, making it easy for our family to cook and spend time together.One of the highlights was the stunning pool overlooking the Douro River. The views were absolutely breathtaking, and it was the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring the region.The air conditioning worked exceptionally well in all of the bedrooms, which made sleeping very comfortable, even during the warm weather.The road leading up to the house is a typical Portuguese hillside road—quite steep and a little intimidating the first time you drive it. However, after a day or two, we were completely comfortable navigating it, and it became second nature.Overall, this was a fantastic place to stay and an excellent base for exploring Porto and the surrounding Douro region. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat with spectacular views.

This is a very beautiful villa that looks even nicer in person that the photos, it’s spacious, very well priced, and has beautiful views. We will definitely stay again, however there was a few problems that ruined our stay.Firstly the house was very unclean in some areas, the bathrooms smelt bad and the showers need a very good clean, the floors were absolutely filthy and left our feet black from walking around. A few of the doors and windows were broken and wouldn’t lock properly which left us to feel quite unsafe. There is a few areas where the host could pay more attention to detail eg make all the light bulbs the same colour instead of one warm and one cold bedside lamp in both the same room. One big thing is the electrical wiring is appalling. My partner is an electrician and was appalled at how bad the wiring is, there is exposed cables and wiring outside which is very dangerous. Lots of the sockets are lose and you can see the cables behind them which again is very dangerous especially if you have young children. The beds are very squeaky and uncomfy and could do with being upgraded. However, the host was quick to bring a new cot when we mentioned that the one provided was broken which is good. Another thing is most of the appliances in the house seem to be gas but there is no carbon monoxide detector which again is dangerous.I think that if all of these issues were sorted it would be perfect. However we would stay again and for the price it’s great.

We had a wonderful recent stay at Casa do Sobreiro. The pictures are a great representation but nothing like being there in person. We had 5 adults in our party and had lots of space. The kitchen is very large and was well stock with everything you need. All the bathrooms are spacious and nice. The host are wonderful. They were very responsive and knowledgeable with all our questions and any request. We will love to come back again.

Douro Valley Gem Close to Porto

Our family of 5 all enjoyed our stay at the spacious Villa. Close to Porto (20-25 min). Gorgeous views of the river. Water Taxi to enjoy the beach across the river for paddle boarding. We hope to come back again

Amazing location

The house is in the most stunning location - better than the photos! It’s extremely spacious and pretty well equipped. It’s not the most modern and there are a few elements that could be updated, but that’s reflected in the price that you pay. The owner was really helpful and communicative, and shared suggestions for the local area. Would recommend!
