Bon Accord

Bon Accord

10/10 Excellent
"ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC ACCOMMODATION, QUALITY AND VALUE AT REASONABLE RATES!!! The premises are spotless, the unit has everything you could possibly need and more. So much thought and effort has been put into making your stay comfortable, warm and cosy. The bed was clean, fresh and comfortable, with electric blankets and bedside lights. There was a fully equipped kitchenette with luxury appliances, cutlery, microwave, tea towels and washing liquids available. The bathroom, although compact, was completely functional, clean fresh towels with complimentary shampoos/conditioner/soap and hair dryer. A spacious shower with overhead and handheld shower heads, good water pressure with hot water constantly flowing. Floor heating with reverse cycle air conditioning made our middle of winter stay, very comfortable. We will certainly be staying there again, and we fully recommend Bon Accord to anyone looking for quality and value for money with a delightful host. Also, as we were in Sale earlier than the official sign in time, we contacted our host Tim at Bon Accord to see if there was any chance of leaving our luggage with them and register in later (as we needed an empty boot for walkers, etc., during the day). Tim couldn’t have been be more helpful if he tried! As our room was already made up for us, we were able to leave everything under lock and key for the day. We were so grateful that he understood our dilemma and helped us out so graciously on the day. Thank you!"

Cosy Mountain retreat in a historic old gold mining town

Cosy Mountain retreat in a historic old gold mining town

8/10 Good
"This is a historic property in beautiful Walhalla. Host Larry is lovley, responds quickly with information and to enquiries. The house is situated on a steep embankment with the driveway coming two thirds to the house. Guests must walk uncovered outside steps leading to the house to enter. This information would be better disclosed in the information provided about the property first up. Anyone with mobility issues may not be able to access the house. Carrying suitases and heavy luggage up the steps in the rain is not ideal! The second 'bedroom' is 'divided' by a cloth divider - and this room is the walkthrough from kitchen to the loungeroom. Great kitchen with all you could need and very cosy with the fire in wintry conditions. Truly an experience."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Glenmaggie?
The best area to stay in Glenmaggie is directly around Glenmaggie Lake, particularly in the townships of Glenmaggie and Coongulla. The area surrounding Glenmaggie Lake is the main draw for visitors, offering direct access to the water and its related activities. The lakeside townships, like Glenmaggie itself and Coongulla, are where you'll find the most convenient accommodation options, often with views or very close proximity to the lake. These townships are relatively small, with general stores and local eateries suiting visitors.Families will find staying near the lake ideal, as it provides easy access to water sports like kayaking, fishing, and swimming. Many accommodations in these areas offer direct lake access or are just a short walk from public foreshore areas, making it simple to get children onto the water or to enjoy picnics by the shore. For those looking for a relaxing escape, the quiet surroundings of Coongulla offer a peaceful retreat.
When is the best time to go to Glenmaggie?
The best time to go to Glenmaggie is during the spring (September to November) or autumn (March to May) months. These periods offer the most pleasant weather for outdoor activities, with milder temperatures and less extreme heat than the summer, and fewer cold, wet days than the winter. You'll find the natural surroundings, particularly around Lake Glenmaggie and the surrounding hills, at their most inviting. For couples looking for a tranquil escape, spring is particularly lovely with wildflowers in bloom, creating scenic backdrops for walks and picnics. The quiet of the shoulder seasons means fewer crowds, allowing for a more relaxed experience at local wineries and along walking trails.Families often find autumn ideal for exploring the area. The cooler temperatures are great for hiking, cycling, and enjoying water sports on the lake without the intensity of summer heat.
