I loved that they had everything in case you forgot something, even new tooth brushes. They thought of everything! The cabin was very cozy we really enjoyed our stay. The only bad thing, they had mouse droppings in the ice trays inside the freezer. So I put bounce sheets down to keep the mice away. Besides that we loved it.
Good place, great wooded location on the river and close to good hiking trails, and a very good experience with the property manager. I’d stay there again for sure.
No issues or concerns. The place worked out wonderful for us

Overpriced and in dire need of remodeling
This house is not remote or secluded. Don't be mislead by the reviews or pictures. There are 3 other houses nearby. It's like you are in a neighborhood. There is another vrbo property next door. During our stay the renters next door had several large dogs who continually barked at us during our time outside. When we were down by the river the seclusion did not exist there either as we heard the nearby busy road. Not exactly relaxing.
The outside of the house needs work. There's an old garage with junk piled around it. There is another pop up canvas garage that is housing an old car. Not my idea of a vacation property.
Inside the house felt like stepping back In time. The carpet was old and stained in parts. The kitchen had cabinets that did not close and were just hanging there. The stove had burners that sank in when we put a pot on them. There were cabinets that had extra sides available for use but at closer inspection most food found in there was years past expiration. Not appetizing.
Parts of the house were not level. The TV was at an angle. The master bedroom was not level either and the floor was bumpy in parts. Only one ceiling fan was found and it was in the master bedroom. No other bedrooms had ceiling fans, yet it was advertised as all having them. They did have box fans, however. There were wall plates that were half over outlets and dinged up walls One more item to note is there was a sour odor coming from the basement upon checkout.
One positive note. The bathroom seemed to be updated.
I've stayed in many vrbo listings. I can't say this was my favorite.
The cottage was well stocked and fit our needs great. A trail going down to the river but be careful the hill is steep. We brought our bag chairs down and hung out on the sand bar. There is a nice large fire pit as well.
I would definitely stay again.
Beautiful wooded area with clean amenities to get away withmy best friend away from our significant others lol. Wished wecould have taken advantage of the firepitand lovely lighted porch but weather was not on our side this weekend so we just spend the weekend inside watching movies. Would definitely come back, hopefully on a weekend where theweatheris more in our favor.

Great amenities, more than I would have ever expected. I mentioned a few things to the owner to make upgrades in the future, but we had a great time.
A good indoor vacation getaway. Not much to do around Gladwin or W. Branch this time of year
GPS does not take you to the property and the written direction could be more clear. When you turn off M 30 turn right (and go along side off the park) GPS doesn't take you there. Also add (there are address signs at both turns and at the property.)
Cabin is very cozy. Had everything we needed. It was clean and comfortable except the temperature in the common area. The thermostat puzzled me?? The set number never match the actual number. It was to warm and stuffy, then to cold as I changed the set number, but the actual number stayed at 71?? Never figured it out. The big bedroom was good though. It has its own heater.
I switched the couch and loveseat to be more comfortable watching tv. I'm sorry we forgot to return them back, but it was nicer for us this way to lay down and see the tv better.
It rained most of the time, but we enjoyed the large selection of games, and dvd's.
We figured there would be somethings to do or go to in Gladwin or West Branch on a Friday &/or Saturday but we didn't find anything. Your welcome book addresses summer and winter activities, but it would be nice to add some spring/ fall when it's colder but not showing. I guess most people come to hunt.
Thank you for the rental, we did enjoy a very relaxing long weekend.
It's an older, not remodelled house. Have low expectations and you'll be surprised how nice everything looks. It's a great find for weekend vacation. Amazing outdoors and bonfire. We loved it.
I wish i could send pictures here. Cobwebs, holes in the wall. No face plates on the electric outlets, live wires hanging out if walls.
We drove 6.5 hours from west Chicago. Got there later in the day. Slept the night and drove home first thing in the morning.
Property needs tens of thousands of dollars of work. Replacing stained carpets must be done with a full bathroom remodel.
How does this even happen? The last straw was when we found used Q tips and wadded up toilet paper under the bed .
Don't make the mistake we made. Its not acceptable to rent.
