"I booked this property 6 months in advance after seeing the pictures and reading the reviews. My wife and I couldn't believe it when we arrived from Heraklion and drove thru the seaside town of Georgioplous and then up the hillside to Alkion Apartments. It was amazing! We were greeted with a warm welcome and fresh hand squeezed OJ a frappe and homemade cakes. This is a family owned and operated property and they are the most friendly, kind and helpful people you will meet. EVERYTHING IS VERY CLEAN. The home cooked breakfast is delicious and you will not beat their prices. I think all the reviews I read can summerize that this is a great place to stay while on Crete. "

"This was a wonderful small property to stay in. The proprietor was so lovely. Could not fault her. The location was excellent. Pit of the very centre of Georioupolis but so close the town square was only a five minute (if that) walk away. Restaurants and shops were almost on the doorstep, with lots of choice. The beach was a stone’s throw away. But at the same time if you were there in high season you would be slightly removed from the hubbub. Our maisonette was impeccably clean. The beds were comfortable. It was nice to have a mini kitchen, in particular a fridge. We also appreciated that there was a table and chairs on our balcony for dining outdoors. The pool area was kept clean and tidy, and there was a sandstorm while we were there. All sand was removed from the pool the following day. Honestly, great value for money. The only fault I could find was the sofa which was not comfortable at all. It would make a great place for an extra bed, but for sitting, not so much. Would recommend. "

"Loved the waterpark esp for our son. Also the buffet for dinner was excellent, though the a la carte restaurants not so much. The room was spacious and clean with no carpet on the floor. Staff were excellent too, professional but friendly. The only thing missing was a bidet in the bathroom."

"All the staff are very friendly. Resort felt very safe and the dining experience was great. We're vegetarians and we never left feeling hungry. Slot has to be booked for the steam room and sauna. Which is great, as you're not then sitting awkwardly with strangers. Loved all the personal touches."

"Perfectly located above a supermarket in Georgioupoli square. 5 well appointed appartments which appear to be fairly new. Room 2 ( ours) and room 3 have near perfect views of the square with its 2 fountains and all the activity at night with the surrounding bars/ restaurants etc. With the balcony door shut we could hear nothing outside so good soundproofing. Our room had a queen bed and a second room with kitchen and convertible settee in to another bed. Also a seperate bathroom with walk in shower/toilet. Kitchen had a variety of appliances; microwave, 2 ring electric hob, fridge with small freezer section, toaster, kettle etc. There were a few shortfalls in equipment which upon request were quickly sorted ( a new larger frying pan, spatula, mixing bowl ) were presented at the door within half an hour. Excellent cleaning programme daily with bins emptied, beds made, floors cleaned etc. Faultless. Small carpack to one side of the appartments but on a first come first served basis. Maybe 20 cars or so only. Non Payable."

"My wife and I had our honeymoon at Eliros Mare. It was our first time in Greece and we really enjoyed our time. We chose to go with the all inclusive option and the room with a private pool for our stay. The only negative about our experience was that it was not a true all inclusive experience. A large portion of drinks, menu items and room service came at an extra charge. Entertainment staff were kind and made our time during the day enjoyable with beach volleyball and other pool/beach activities. Food service at breakfast, lunch and dinner was okay as the servers would rush to take your initial drink order but wouldn’t return unless they were waived down or at your table to clear plates. We enjoyed our room as it was spacious and had the private pool which was nice to have. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and would return to Eliros but would rethink the all inclusive option and most likely opt for a regular room without a private pool as we don’t believe it was utilized enough for the extra cost. "

"SUCH friendly hosts. Fresh towels and bed linen mid week, unprompted texts suggesting places to visit, offers of help when I was unwell, daily bin emptying and toilet roll replenishment and offers of coffee whenever at the pool area. Local restaurants superb and reasonably priced. Warm sea to swim in. Pool area clean and plenty of sun-beds. Loads of free parking. I would stay here again."

"A lovely villa in a peaceful tranquil retreat. Wonderful views of the coast and surrounding hills. Watch the Eagles soaring above. Very peaceful you can listen to the wildlife around you. The nearest Taverna is just over a kilometer away but you are unlikely to encounter a car walking there. Beautiful lake nearby to see the fresh water turtles."
