About this property

Wiggleswick Cottage; Dogs Welcome Certified! 8/31-9/4 available!

  • Come experience the magic of Midcoast Maine at Wiggleswick Cottage on the island of Georgetown (accessible by car) owned and managed locally by Little White Dog Properties.
My mission is to provide both my human and dog guests with an unforgettable experience, embracing hospitality, while treading lightly on our planet with a commitment to sustainability and community.

At Little White Dog Properties I audit and review Wiggleswick Cottage for safety to all.
These audits involve a thorough assessment of the property to identify and evaluate risks—whether it's the structural integrity of balconies, the safety of appliances, or potential fire hazards.

Key components of my professional safety audit include:

    1. Fire Safety: Ensuring smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, and emergency exit routes are clearly marked and easily accessible.

    2. Fall Prevention: Assessing the height and stability of balconies, railings, and stairs to prevent falls, particularly for children. Additionally, inspecting lighting and identifying potential hazards throughout the property that could lead to slips, trips, and falls—the most common cause of injury in short-term rentals.

    3. Emergency Preparedness: Reviewing the availability and accessibility of emergency contact information, first aid kits, and evacuation plans.

    4. Electrical and Appliance Safety: Checking outlets, appliances, and safety devices (e.g., GFIs) for potential hazards, such as faulty wiring or outdated equipment.

    5. Electrical and Appliance Safety: Checking outlets, appliances, and safety devices (e.g., GFIs) for potential hazards, such as faulty wiring or outdated equipment.

    6. Furniture and Amenities: Ensuring that furnishings and amenities—such as beds, grills, and fire pits—are appropriate for short-term rental use. These should be set up safely and equipped with necessary warning information to prevent injuries.

Wake up to gorgeous long water views and morning coffee on the deck overlooking your own private waterfront in this spectacular, family friendly, no matter what your family looks like, 3 BR and 2 BA newly renovated and well-appointed log home that comfortably sleeps 6 (six is the max occupancy on this property).
    * Note: this property rents Fri-Fri in July and August.

Set on 2+ acres at the end of a private road, this beautiful retreat offers 75' of protected waterfront with a huge 200 sq. ft. dock. *Please note: We cannot guarantee that the dock will be in the water anytime before Memorial Day or after Labor Day; It is 100% weather dependent.

Spend your salty, Maine days sunbathing on the dock and watching the Osprey and Bald Eagles fish. Flag down one of the many lobster boats that operate right in front of the cottage to purchase a fresh lobster right off of the boat!

The fishing in front of the house is FANTASTIC so if you enjoy the sport bring your poles and enjoy catching some Maine sea bass during your stay. I supply the fishing license!

Children of all ages will enjoy playing disc golf, cornhole, croquet, badminton or some ping pong with the family in the Cottage's large grassy yard and adventure over to the local Five Islands neighborhood for a Lobster Roll at Five Islands Lobster Company.

Evenings around the portable Solo Stove fire pit on the deck, or on the dock, making smores, and looking at the dazzling clear Maine night sky is what Maine vacation dreams are made of.

Please note: The water currents in front of the property are very strong and therefore not safe for swimming during high tide. There are steps to get to the dock.

Rainy days at Wiggleswick Cottage will be a treat with a selection of board games or a game of darts for the family while enjoying a crackling wood fire in the cottage's two story, show stopping, stone fireplace.

Maine vacations aren't just for the humans, Little White Dog Properties has been voted BEST pet friendly lodging in the state of Maine and are a Dogs Welcome Certified Property. The property welcomes dogs (up to four) and we do not charge a pet fee!

In addition, I am the admin/creator of the wildly popular Facebook group, Dogs Welcome, that helps connect hosts who welcome dogs with travelers traveling with their four legged best friends.

Midcoast Maine is known for its numerous, excellent hiking trails and has plenty of local wildlife including deer, osprey, bald eagles, and the occasional moose. Visit Reid State Park which is less than 5 miles away and has trails, and an excellent beach for long seaside walks or spending a carefree afternoon in the sun and surf.

Looking for different types of adventures? Try one of the area's whale watching cruises and see the magnificent creatures up close. You'll have to visit charming historic downtown Bath, home to Bath Iron Works and Maine Maritime Museum, which only 20 minutes away where you can browse a variety of quality shops on Main Street and discover wonderful eateries and sweet treats. Don't forget Freeport, because what's a visit to Maine without visiting the LL Bean Flagship store (open 24 hours).

The Cottage has a 2-story wall of view-filled windows with full pane French doors and features oak plank hardwoods floors throughout for a flowing light and bright feel. The kitchen is fully equipped and has brand new appliances, a breakfast bar and plenty of counter space overlooking a comfortable dining area for fun family meals, evening snacks or board game challenges. There is also Wi-Fi and a smart TV in the living room to keep up with the outside world or to have a movie night.

All of the rooms are spacious and tastefully furnished with 1 BD and 1 BA (with a full-sized washer and dryer in it) on the main floor and 2 BD 1 BA upstairs. The downstairs full BA has a shower tub combo, and the 2nd floor BA features a walk-in shower.

Boasting two single beds, the upstairs nautical bedroom is perfect for the kids and their imaginations or the adults who are kids at heart, and the upstairs ensuite bedroom boasts a hanging hammock bed (Hangout Pod) for curling up with a book or taking a cozy nap.

The property also has it's safety certification through Breezeway so you can relax knowing your family's safety and security are a top priority. Wiggleswick Cottage was also featured on a vacation rental safety segment that aired on Good Morning America.

It is no secret that I am a dog lover! I also value my community and like to give back when I can...
Little White Dog Properties has a sponsorship program with Maine Senior Dog rescue Old Dogs New Digs and with each stay, I sponsor a dog that they have in foster care, including yours!
Old Dogs New Digs is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (all-volunteer) organization dedicated to helping homeless and displaced senior dogs and cats. They focus on getting senior animals into loving homes and raise funds to support their health and well-being. They assist with foster or forever home placement, make financial contributions toward vet care or special food/medications, and raise awareness about seniors in-need.

Now is your chance to book your magical Maine vacation and stay at Wiggleswick Cottage. I look forward to hosting, and spoiling, you and your family!
