Arcos de Almona Frigiliana by Ruralidays

Holiday home situated in the historic town of Frigiliana, in the region of La Axarquía, in the province of Malaga, Andalusia.

This holiday home’s rustic but practical style makes its guests feel comfortable, in a private and intimate area, which at the same time is completely integrated in the life of this small town. The huge space is divided into a bedroom with a double bed, an original decorated bathroom with shower, a dining-living room with a wood stove that shares space with a completely equipped open kitchen, characterized by handmade Sevillian tiles. The nine enormous arch-shaped windows let an unbeatable light flood into the home during all year long.

The 80 m2-wide covered terrace, the barbecue area and the private swimming pool make this holiday home a very privileged site in a peculiar environment.

It is located in the town centre, however its main characteristics are quietness and intimacy, alongside with marvellous views over Frigiliana’s fields and white houses.

Wonderful apartment in a great location and fantastic views of the area. Hosts Javier and Rosario are friendly, helpful and responsive and clearly take great pride in their properties. The roof terrace is beautiful and the pool is perfect. All of the facilities in Frigiliana are within a short walk. Perfect!!

Whatever I write will come up short of accurately describing our experience. Every single thing was better than expected! The apartment. The location. The hosts. The peacefulness. The hiking. The restaurants. The terrace. The absolute charm of Frigiliana. The ease of traveling to Nerja. It immediately felt like home to us. Magical spot with marvelous hosts! Two things to note. We do not consider these negatives, but important to know. First, if you have mobility or health issues Frigiliana may not be your best choice. Everything is either uphill or downhill. It’s quite a workout! Second, the bed is a full size (double) bed. Very comfortable. Great cotton bedding. Plenty of comforters and pillows. But if you are extra-large people accustomed to a King-sized bed, this will be an adjustment! :-) To sum it up. We would put this experience right up at the very top of the list!

I feel everything I say will fully reflect the views of the previous reviewer who captured everything we felt. The property is fantastic, clean, cosy and a beautiful patio space with various different spaces to enjoy at different times of the day, along with the fine plunge pool. Our welcome could not have been bettered and I plagiarise once more help with parking our car -secure parking but certainly couldn't have done it without Javier, the welcome pack was comprehensive and we wanted for absolutely nothing during our stay. We relaxed, we enjoyed and could very comfortably say we did feel we were in 'our home from home'. I think you'll gather from all this Javier and Rosario are the best of hosts and a joy to be around. I hope we will be back we loved everything.

Die Gastgeber Javier und Rosario sind freundlich, hilfsbereit und aufmerksam und sind offensichtlich sehr stolz auf ihre Unterkünfte. Die Dachterrasse ist wunderschön und der Pool ist perfekt. Alle Einrichtungen von Frigiliana sind nur einen kurzen Spaziergang entfernt. Perfekt!

Außergewöhnlicher, wunderschöner und wunderbarer 2-wöchiger Aufenthalt. Täglich 11 Stunden Sonne auf der schönen Terrasse. Tolle Grillabende, bei denen man den Sonnenuntergang beobachten und sich im Tauchbecken abkühlen kann. Die Gastgeber waren super freundlich und hinterließen ein ausgezeichnetes Willkommenspaket und standen bei Bedarf zur Verfügung. Wir werden auf jeden Fall nächstes Jahr wiederkommen.

So gemütlich, viele gute Restaurants, viel besser als an der Küste zu bleiben. Lieblingsmomente. Morgenspaziergänge zum Gipfel des Hügels hinter dem Haus, bevor die Tagesausflügler eintreffen. Sonnenuntergänge im kleinen Pool, Aufwachen mit Vogelgezwitscher.

Es war ein unglaublicher Aufenthalt in einer unglaublich schönen Bergstadt. Wir liebten den Dachgarten/die Terrasse mit Aussicht, Pflanzen und Swimmingpool. Die malerischen Kopfsteinpflasterstraßen laden zum Bummeln ein und viele Restaurants und Bars sind zu Fuß erreichbar. Unser Favorit war El Mirador auf dem Gipfel von Frigiliana, mit großartigem Essen und atemberaubender Aussicht. Javier war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir können es wärmstens empfehlen. Vielen Dank, dass Sie uns das Gefühl gegeben haben, so willkommen zu sein. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt wirklich genossen.

Mit Abstand das beste Airbnb, in dem wir je übernachtet haben. Sauber, gut ausgestattet und privat. Wir waren überwältigt von der schönen Terrasse und dem Tauchbecken, wo wir viele Stunden damit verbrachten, in Ruhe und Frieden die Sonne zu genießen. Javier und Rosario, die Gastgeber, waren fantastisch und für alles zugänglich. Auf uns wartete ein großzügiges Willkommenspaket mit Milch, Bier, Eiern, Pastete, Aufschnitt und Butter. Ich würde jederzeit wieder einen Aufenthalt hier buchen. Es ist überhaupt nicht wie ein unpersönliches Ferienhaus. Es fühlt sich sehr gemütlich an und ist mit schönen Dekorationen und bequemen Möbeln ausgestattet. Es ist eine sehr schöne Wohnung, um einen wunderschönen Urlaub in unserem geliebten Frigiliana zu verbringen.

Our stay was absolutely outstanding. Not only was Javier an amazing host, but he was so helpful and kind too. He gave us so many tips and recommendations throughout our trip and is always available if you need to call him for anything at all. The villa itself was pristine and just beautiful. It is very private and perfect for couples wanting to get away. It is in an amazing location a short walk into the main square and a very short distance to restaurants bars and little shops. Our stay was perfect and we will be returning in the future for sure. Once again they were amazing hosts, they had everything in pristine condition and never disturbed and only contacted us if necessary or to give us recommendations. Perfect location, perfect house, perfect hosts.

Die Terrasse mit Grill, einem kleinen Swimmingpool und einem atemberaubenden Blick auf die Berge ist das Herzstück dieses gemütlichen Hauses. Mehrere Restaurants, Minimärkte zu Fuß erreichbar. Den Strand erreicht man in kurzer Entfernung von 10km mit dem Auto (Nerja). Die Gastgeber waren immer sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen!

Dieses Anwesen ist fantastisch, sauber, gemütlich und mit einer wunderschönen Terrasse (wir haben ein paar Nächte zu Hause gegessen, nur um es zu nutzen). Unser Gastgeber Javier war wunderbar und hätte nicht netter zu uns sein können - er half uns beim Transport und sorgte auch dafür, dass der Kühlschrank nach unserer langen Reise mit einigen wichtigen Dingen für uns gefüllt war. Das Anwesen ist sehr zentral und in der Nähe von vielen Restaurants, Bars und Geschäften (obwohl ein Wort der Warnung - wie die meisten von Frigiliana, müssen Sie einige Hänge hinaufgehen, um es zu erreichen, also vielleicht nicht die beste Lage für diejenigen, die unsicher auf den Beinen sind ). Es gibt auch eine zusätzliche Gebühr für die Nutzung der Klimaanlage (was für uns kein Problem war, sondern nur zur Information). Vielen Dank für Javier, dass er uns gehostet hat. Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen!

Unique little apartment ideal for 2 people, lovely views from superb terrace. We stayed in this lovely apartment for a long weekend (4 days). It was a perfect break in November, the sun shone every day. We had breakfast on the terrace overlooking the mountains. The accommodation is excellent and the location ideal for walking through the old town, didn't need a car. We enjoyed seeing our friends, the owners Rosario, Javier and their children as always. We would love to stay here again and would recommend it to our friends and family.

Never fails to enchant! We have been going to this wonderful house for over 7 years and we never, never tire of the place. The apartment itself is utterly delightful, very comfortable, spotlessly clean, is great for two, and has the most wonderful roof terrace with its own plunge pool, seating area, barbecue and with spectacular views over the surrounding sierras. We have come to know the owners, Javier and Rosario, very well, and they, along with their two children, are the most charming, helpful, friendly couple you could ever wish to meet. They live on the 2nd floor of this lovely three-floored traditional village property (Rosario's mother lives on the ground floor!), and the obvious advantage of that, of course, is that they are always on hand if you have any problems, or just want to ask a question. Anything you need, you only have to say - they will be only too delighted to do what they can to assist. Above all, they will do their utmost to ensure that you have the most pleasurable - and utterly memorable - stay. (And that, by the way, includes providing you with the best welcome pack you're ever likely to experience in any self-catering rental property!) But they are never intrusive – they're there when you need them, invisible when you don't. Frigiliana itself is a delightful village. It's a 'working' village, really, which means that the bars and restaurants are, for the most part, there to cater for the locals, rather than the tourists. Ergo, a little Spanish, although not absolutely essential, is appreciated, and goes a long way. You will find very reasonable prices in most establishments, and in one or two places prices are much lower than you'd find in the UK. Sure, there are one or two touristy spots, but by and large these tend to cater for the day-trippers who come up from Nerja for the day, and then go away again around late afternoon, allowing the village to return to its normal air of tranquillity, with the sound of local children having fun in the little streets and plazas the only thing you'll be likely to hear of an evening. But if you do fancy the “bright lights” of Nerja, there is a frequent local bus service between there and the village (last bus back to Frigiliana is 8.30pm, so any later and you'll need a taxi – but it's only a 5-10 minute drive so that's not an expensive option). There is, however, no service on a Sunday. If you decide to hire a car, Javier can organise that for you. As I write this, we are just about to dep

This is the perfect place to stay if you want to be in the heart of the beautiful village of Frigiliana. Javier and Rosario have created a lovely space which offers everything you would need for a very comfortable stay. The kitchen / dining / lounge space works really well, providing a cool and comfortable room which is spacious and very well equipped in all of its areas. The bedroom and bathroom are excellent too. The 'jewel in the crown' of the accommodation is undoubtedly the terrace. It has a delightful plunge pool, perfect for cooling down on hot days, as well as areas to lay in the sun or out, to sit quietly in the shade, or to eat looking out over wonderful views. All of the accommodation is finished to a very high standard and is a pleasure to stay in. The location is ideal for walking down the steps - or up if you are feeling energetic - into Frigiliana, to enjoy its narrow cobbled streets, traditional white washed houses and numerous bars and restaurants. Javier and Rosario were the perfect hosts. We couldn't recommend this holiday rental highly enough and will definitely look to stay there again.

The roof garden is amazing, with stunning views where you can relax in seclusion. Only a short walk to the village centre with a good selection of shops. Very good places to eat nearby where the cuisine is varied and of high standard. I would definitely recommend this location to anyone.

We have stayed here twice now and have loved each visit. It is a cosy well equipped and homely apartment with so many added extras and so much thought given to guests and their needs for a week away. Javier and Rosario are helpful without being intrusive and will do everything to make your stay in Frigillana a special one. This apartment has a lovely outside space, a welcome plunge pool, built in barbie and comfy sun loungers, all perfect for a relaxing holiday. We are hoping to stay in another one of the villas owned by Javier and Rosario the next year and know that we will be received with a warm welcome. Would recommend this place, great for a couple wanting a self catering apartment within walking distance from good bars and restaurants in beautiful surroundings.

We stayed at this fantastic villa for 5 nights and had a lovely time. It is set in the old town of Frigiliana, which is a beautiful white Spanish town in the hills above Nerja. The house was perfect for our stay. It consisted of an open-plan living area, encompassing the lounge, dining room and kitchen and then off this was a double bedroom and a shower room. Outside there was an enormous roof terrace, with a plunge pool and several different seating areas, where you could eat, sunbathe or sit comfortably reading a book. The views of the surrounding hills were so pretty and the terrace itself was full of colourful plants in pots, which made it very attractive. The house was well equipped with everything you could need if you wanted to cater fully for yourself at home but we mainly used it for breakfast and lunch and ate out at various restaurants in Frigiliana or Nerja in the evening. A welcome hamper is provided on arrival and has all the basics needed as well as some extras, such as a bottle of wine and some beers so this kept us going for a couple of days before we needed to go shopping. The owners were very helpful and you could call on them for assistance as they live next door. Having said that, the house is still very private and the terrace is not overlooked at all. We enjoyed our stay very much and this was helped by the lovely sunny April weather, which meant we could spend a lot of time soaking up the sun on the terrace.

My wife and I stayed at this beautiful apartment for a week during the Festival Tres Culturas. As the town was going to be busy with limited parking the owner, Javier very kindly offered to pick us up from the airport. The apartment is named after the row of arched windows that throw light into the american style lounge, kitchen,dinner area which were well presented and very clean. WiFi and satellite TV with British channels were provided. The bedroom has a very comfortable double bed with ample drawer and hanging space. The bathroom with shower cubicle is beautifully tiled and has a light funnel to provide illumination. The 'wow' is when you walk out onto the terrace which has lovely views to the mountains, a plunge pool which is wonderful on a hot afternoon and ample sunbathing space with two comfy loungers supplied. There is also a covered porch with table and chairs to escape from the heat of the sun. The terrace is decked with beautiful plants which Rosario has a passion for. At the quieter end of the village, you have all the bars and restaurants within a 5 minute walk, but enjoy the silence when you return home at the end of an evening. And don't forget the welcome pack of wine, beer, milk, water and enough cheese and meats to get you by for your first couple of days.There are plenty stores in the village to replenish your stocks, but we did not need to. Rosario and Javier are lovely hosts who want to ensure that you enjoy your stay with them and they are very proud of their village. They are always there if you need them but are not intrusive in any manner.

My second experience at this beautiful Villa, previously in 2012 and the place is as beautiful as ever. Extremely well equipped...all facilities we could require. As it was early in the year we found the evenings rather chilly however Javier and his son, Nicholas, scoured the village for logs and we had an amazing log fire (2 or 3 evenings) which kept us snuggly!! Daytimes were tremendous out on the well equipped terrace along with occasional dips in the plunge pool..yes it was actually warm enough to do that despite cool evenings! And of course, Frigiliana itself, we couldn't wish for more bars, restaurants and cafe's. Ate out every evening, some breakfast times..just glorious! Shall go again!

Arrived to be met by the owners Javier and Rosario and the best welcome pack we have ever had. The house and terrace are gorgeous with a very welcome pool. Everywhere was spotlessly clean as well as comfortable. We hired a car but the house was so relaxed, we only used it twice. Frigiliana is a beautiful village with small steep cobbled streets, white washed houses, decorated with flowers. There are a lot of restaurants with terraces overlooking the village and its hills. Stunning! Would definitely revisit Frigiliana and stay at this magical house again.

Everything about our holiday at this beautiful place was fabulous and the experience summarised by so many other reviews. Lovely hosts javier and family were welcoming, warm, helpful and unobtrusive. Nice welcome pack, spotless apartment with everything you need. Fantastic location with supermarkets and restaurants on the doorstep. Wonderful terrace with amazing views, sun or shade all day/evening. We will return either later this year or next. Muchas gracias!
