Little Fox Cottage - A Cozy Riverview Getaway

A cozy getaway in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. Located 40 miles from the city and just 1.25 miles from the Fox River Grove Metra stop. Get away from the city or 'work from home' in our 1 bedroom cottage with a giant covered outdoor space tucked against the slope of a beautifully terraced hill.

Looking for a weekend getaway or a work-from-home retreat? Book this cozy 1-bedroom, 1-bath vacation cottage tucked behind a hill overlooking the Fox River. Located 40 miles from the city and just 1.25 miles from the Fox River Grove Metra stop, you'll be just minutes from quaint downtown Barrington, Cary, and Crystal Lake.

The fully equipped kitchen offers ample countertop space where you can prepare a home-cooked meal while your travel companions join you. Enjoy the meal at the kitchen table or step outside and eat at our 8 foot dining table while being fully protected from the elements on our covered living space.

After a day exploring the great outdoors or venturing into the city, curl up on the large living room sofa with a good book, or indulge in a quick snooze to refresh and recharge. Log on to the ultra-fast WiFi or watch your favorite movies on the smart TV with our guest Netflix account.

At night, gather around the giant outdoor fire place to roast marshmallows with your family before retiring to the bedroom or couch for a good night's sleep.

Working from home? We have a dedicated workspace equipped with an extra wall-mounted monitor. Just connect with our HDMI cord and you'll be ready for an efficient day of work. On nice days, feel free to setup your laptop on our table outside, as our WiFi range easily covers the patio and we have a power strip dedicated to the space.

Please Note: Accessing the property requires the use of a set of stairs (with a railing).

We enjoy our pets, but this house is strictly a "No Pets" house.

Comfortable Cottage for Relaxing Stay

Adorable upstairs cottage in quiet neighborhood. This little one bedroom apartment cottage provides all the comforts of home, but better! We enjoyed a quiet weekend with walks along the river. The hosts did a fabulous job providing all the special touches one could hope for. I highly recommend this cottage.

I had to travel for business and invited my wife along to join me. We decided to stay here as an alternative to a less exciting hotel room. I'm so glad we did. The large driveway parking area was easy to get in and out of. As we topped the stairs to the front door we were greeted by a beautiful outdoor space appointed with a fireplace and plenty of firewood (as well as the makings for smores inside!) The keyless entry was super simple and less of a hassle than having to get a key someplace. The interior was simple but elegant and felt very comfy from the moment we arrived. The bathroom shower was huge and the bed was comfortable. Our only complaint was that we had given ourselves too little daylight to explore along the river! Derryn was fantastic and answered all of my questions very quickly. Such a great host. We hope to be back soon!

This rental is a little slice of Heaven! Quant, Cozy and peaceful. The Unit has everything you could possibly need. The Pergulal and fireplace area made morning coffee time relaxing and late night fireside chats even more memorable!
