**THE RETREAT PROPERTY** Not long after you turn onto the private road that winds through the retreat property, you will see Coyote Cabin on your left, along with your own private parking area (2 cars max). Nearby, you will see The Otter Box Cabin (also listed).
Beside your private parking area at Coyote Cabin, there are stairs leading up to the cabin's entrance as well as a beautiful walking ramp that provides a no-stairs entrance. From the front porch, you will appreciate the views from the covered porch area. This is a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and take in the views :)
Stepping inside the cabin, you will know your peaceful retreat has begun as you are surrounded by windows that reveal the most beautiful "treehouse views." From every window, you will see refreshing views through a canopy of trees. Be sure to look up and notice the beautiful wood ceiling that was built by the homeowners and upcycled from hurricane-weathered wood planks on Alabama's own coast in Baldwin County.
Moving into the main living area, you will appreciate the sight of a large comfortable sofa and loveseat. There is plenty of room for your family to enjoy this space, and the sofa folds out to a queen bed when there are 6 guests. There is a gas log fireplace for your enjoyment, and for movie nights in, there is a 55" television in the living room with fast Wi-Fi for streaming your own favorite channel subscriptions. A DVD player is also available if you'd like to bring your favorite DVDs.
Directly next to the living room area is the dining area and kitchen. There is seating for up to six with two additional chairs on the front porch. In the kitchen, there is a refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, blender, cooking pots, can opener, pans and utensils, dishes, drinking glasses, eating utensils, cooking spices, coffee mugs, and more.
A primary bedroom boasts beautiful window views. There is a closet, and for the bed, there is a queen bed and with comfortable bedding for your rest and relaxation.
The secondary bedroom also has a queen bed, and there is a sitting bench beside the bed that can be used to climb into the big, comfy bed as the thick mattress and box springs give it more height.
A full bathroom includes a full tub/shower combo and sink vanity. Directly across the hall from the bathroom, there is a full laundry room with a washer and dryer available for your convenience, as well as a fold-out ironing board with iron. You will also find extra quilts, a portable fan and a sofa-bedding kit.
Back outside and near the cabin, you will notice a rock fire pit designed with your retreat in mind. You are welcomed to use any small pieces of fallen wood that can safely fit inside the fire pit, and firewood bundles are sold at nearby stores. Please only burn firewood, as the homeowners and guests roast food over this fire pit. Extendable roasters are located in a kitchen drawer for your convenience, so be sure to bring ingredients for s'more memories.
Near the fire pit is your Charcoal/wood-burning Campground-Style BBQ Grill with a metal bucket and lid to collect grill ashes :)

Perfect place for a little getaway!
We loved Coyote Cabin! It was extremely clean, comfortable, and the people at Peaceful Retreats are extremely welcoming, going above and beyond to make sure our stay was amazing. It was peaceful & quiet, able to get away from every day life. Also, was a short drive to Fort Payne/Mentone to go to lunch or dinner. All in all, was a great trip and will definitely be visiting again!!

Wonderful 4th of July Weekend!
My wife, our dog, and I had a wonderful weekend at Coyote Cabin. It was convenient to find, located far enough away from a developed area to be peaceful, but not so far you couldn't easily go get dinner. Wonderfully appointed and the gate on the porch made our dog ask to practically live out there for the majority of our stay. We highly recommend spending time here.

Stunning stay!
We wholeheartedly recommend this beautiful cabin! Not only is it close to the state park but the cabin itself is a complete retreat. So peaceful and comfortable. There was nothing that we needed that wasn’t already there. We loved the gas fireplace and the outdoor fire pit area the most! We will be back!

Beautiful, Serene, Relaxing
My son, two grandchildren, and I went and Coyote Cabin is absolutely amazing. The pictures do not even do this cabin justice. It is very clean, well stocked, and comfortable. The hammock and fire pit were loved by the grands, and us too. Misty was our travel coordinator and was so helpful in giving us pointers in the area to have fun with places to dine. The Hatter Cafe is a definite must. We will definitely book with Peaceful Retreats again.

Coyote Cabin
We stayed at Coyote Cabin May 2nd thru 5th. Our cabin was surrounded by beautiful woods that was on the edge of the state park. Coffee and breakfast on the deck was such a delightful activity for us to get our day started with. We ended each busy day by relaxing by the camp fire with s’mores. The cabin also had a great napping couch for those (me) that might have a hard time keeping up with the other people!

Anniversary weekend
The Coyote cabin was absolutely awesome. We rested, took in the beauty around us, ate, and visited local crafters. But it was so quiet and peaceful at the cabin. It was clean and supplied so well. A very thoughtful basket of goodies and the tea was such a nice touch. The voucher for The Hatter was so nice! We loved it all. Thank you so much for hosting us in your beautiful cabin!

Exceeded Expectations
My wife and I had wanted visit the Fort Payne area of Alabama for along time, we finally decided make the trip to see the fall colors and get away from the heat and humidity of S. Fl.
I found Peaceful Retreats by accident on line, liked what I saw, and booked a cabin for our getaway to the mountains.
I have to say our whole experience was fantastic. The booking process was straight forward and easy. The staff was pleasant, informative and helpful. The cabin we stayed in was perfect, well appointed, and immaculately clean.
And the setting was just what the "doctor" ordered, it truly was a peaceful retreat. I highly recommend a stay.
Sincerely,
Brian L.

Quiet relaxing stay at Coyote Cabin
We had a wonderful stay at Coyote cabin. It’s secluded with only one other cabin in view on the property. Extremely close to Desoto park and falls. We did the hiking trails and swam at the Hippie Hole. We were able to bring our dog with us and he got some hiking in too. We enjoyed grilling burgers for dinner and relaxing in the hammock. The kitchen is fully functional and we only ate out with the vouchers we were kindly provided with to the Hatter Cafe in Mentone, which was delicious. The first night I discovered that the bathroom was missing a hair dryer and the host kindly provided one the next morning. Very accommodating and attentive. Would recommend to anyone for a long weekend.

Fresh pet friendly convenience cabin
Our stay for my bday was great get an away and the communication with the host was stellar. She even text, emailed & messaged through the VRBO app(important because if you fat finger your email address in the VRBO app while booking learned the hard way w another host you’ll never received anything but will be charged)
Arriving was easy. Short drive to hiking at parks! Dog friendly while still very fresh spotless and clean! Still has that “in the woods on the Mtn “ feel. Host even left a few local goodies. Deposit returned quicker after clean check out. 2 great bedrooms with full bathroom. Only thing missing was a hot tub (maybe one will be added later bc there’s great space) & later check out time when your on vacation, it’s at 10am.
The Coyote Cabin was a beautiful, quiet place to relax and enjoy nature. It is perfectly located in the middle of the woods, away from noise and everyday distractions. The big picture window let us view the tops of the trees and the leaves falling, we enjoyed our coffee on the big front porch, and we could hear the leaves fall on the tin roof - It was magical. The cabin itself is clean and well-kept with so many little extra amenities - good coffee, snacks, even a gift voucher for a local cafe. The cabin is so nicely decorated and warm without being overly done. To top it off, Misti, the property manager, was fantastic at communication! She was easy to reach and always quick to respond. Her warm personality made the experience enjoyable from the very beginning. We highly recommend the Coyote Cabin and will be staying here again ourselves.

Peaceful getaway!
We booked the Coyote Cabin last minute for a quick weekend getaway! It was perfect! Very peaceful and secluded but just minutes away from Desoto State Park, Fort Payne and Mentone. The cabin was nice and neat with all the amenities that you would need! The coffee Misti provides is phenomenal! We enjoyed the fire pit, hammock and walking trail across from the cabin! There are plenty of things to do near by. We enjoyed horseback riding, hiking, swimming and the beautiful views! There is also a lot of yummy places to eat within minutes of the cabin. A few we enjoyed were the Rim of the Canyon Cafe, Mater’s Pizza, Mentone Market, the Hatter’s Cafe and our personal fave, Taco Town! The list of attractions and dining recommendations was very helpful as we were for time visitors to the area!! We came home feeling refreshed and renewed and will definitely be back to Coyote Cabin!!!

What a delightful retreat!
Coyote Cabin (9/20-22): The reservation, payment, and checkout process were all straightforward and flawless. Peaceful Retreats (and Misti) knew my questions before I knew them and communicated well via email and text. Misti pointed us to lots of good information about food and events (and animal activity) in the Fort Payne area.
We arrived after dark, but Misti left the lights on for us. We walked in and found the cabin to be very clean. It felt new and fresh and comfortable.
The cabin is in the middle of woods, with the nearest cabin far enough away so you aren't really aware of it. There is a hammock and a fire pit that we didn't use, but they would be fun for another trip with the kids.
We used our free breakfast vouchers (Thank you Peaceful Retreats!) at The Hatter restaurant and liked it so much that we returned the next morning.
The cabin was home base for day trips to DeSoto SP and LRCNP.
We recommend this cabin for a stay and will return when we can!

Clean,cozy, organized, and toddler friendly.
We were very happy with our stay. Here are some of our highlights. We have a 18-month-old baby so the gate at the top of the stairs and the lack of breakable decor down low gave us much-needed peace to enjoy our stay. What we loved the most is this is the cleanest and most well-thought-out Vrbo we have stayed in and what is most surprising is it's the first dog-friendly vrbo we stayed in. Everything felt new and fresh. This cabin is an easy drive to DeSoto Falls or Mentone making it the perfect getaway with family, friends, or an anniversary. It is well stocked to wash a generous amount of dishes in the dishwasher, laundry, and supplies to keep the place clean and comfortable during your stay. Things that we felt were thoughtful were the goat soap, coffee, snacks, a few kitchen staples, and the breakfast vouchers. Do not skip out on the breakfast at Hatters Cafe. The service, atmosphere, and food were exceptional. We have only good things to say about our stay this weekend. Thank you for having us.
We stayed here for a spur of the moment weekend getaway to celebrate my wife’s birthday and to ring in the new year. This place was perfect for our needs. Our main concern was would it truly be pet friendly. Without a doubt YES. The porch was fenced in so we didn’t have to worry about our furry family member accidentally getting loose. The property manager, Misti, was truly a phone call away and answered our needs. This was probably the easiest getaway from beginning to end that I’ve ever experienced. We had goodies waiting on us that included the world famous Little Debbie Christmas Tree cakes, coffee, popcorn, hot chocolate, teas, local homemade soap, and a gift voucher for breakfast for two at the Hatter Cafe. That place was phenomenal. Some of the food choices were unique and some were common. We loved it! The service was top notch too. Back to the cabin. It was secluded enough for us. We had one neighbor we could see easily and one we could see through the trees. They put on a fireworks show we could watch from our front porch. This was the perfect getaway. We highly recommend this 2 bedroom 1 bath cabin.
