"We were driving from the UK to the south west of France and wanted somewhere to stay en route. What a wonderful surprise this place was. The house is a big, beautiful, old (really old!) property with very generous rooms and lovely ensuite bathrooms. The hosts are very welcoming and generous. Saintes - who knows why that big town is not more widely known as a tourist destination. Incredible architecture, lovely river walks, greta places to eat. And the best bit - we have 2 large excitable dogs...

If you are looking for an incredibly comfortable, quiet location in which to step out of the rat race, then this is it.Convenient for Cognac. "The gentleman of the house could not be more gracious. His English is superb ( my French is nonexistent ) so he was able to help me make plans for all my area touring. Located about .5 hour from towns,beachs, parks.... There is onsite parking. The property was completely renovated 2016 and I mean everything. King room is spacious by any standard with a beautifully appointed bathroom and separate dressing room.Outdoor space has options for shade, sun, lounge. Picnic pack, spa, sauna, and dinner...

"Hard to find the first time, but ideally located overall. Towns and champagne tour route nearby. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable and quiet. We did not self-cater but with a boulangerie a short walk it would have been easy. We were only in for a short stay (attending a wedding) but would definitely stay again if we were to revisit the region."

"De passage à Saintes, nous avons passé une nuit sur place. Très calme pour bien dormir. Très bon accueil à l’arrivée. Le petit déjeuner dans le jardin le matin c’est au top, notre hôte a été aux petits soins, c’était très agréable. Nous n’hésiterons pas à reprendre une nuit à l’occasion."

Le propriétaire sait se rendre disponible en cas de question, il est très réactif. Pour le ménage, c'était correct mais pas très affiné.
