Nestled in Floyd's rural landscape, Blue Ridge Terrace offers a secluded retreat amidst 66 wooded acres. With nature views from every window and two mountain lookout spots nearby, unwind with a hot tub soak or zip-line adventure.
Explore 66, mostly wooded, acres with a stocked catfish pond, two zip-lines, a hot tub and some amazing views of rural Floyd along our private trails. Our wooded property gives each cabin a secluded feel with nature views from every window as well as two mountain lookout spots just a short hike away. The center of town (Floyd) is an 11 mile scenic drive. The Blue Ridge Terrace is a private entrance upstairs cabin located above my husband’s wood shop. This unit is separate from our home located 20 yards away. The views from the windows are of the forest and pond.
Bring your fishing poles and some chicken livers when the weather is warm, and you are almost guaranteed to catch a catfish! Please modify your hooks for catch and release only (we can show you how).
Cell coverage is an issue throughout Floyd. We have installed a cell signal amplifier on the cabin and have great cell and data service from the nearest Verizon tower (several carriers use this network). Others may be iffy. We have the best internet plan available in Floyd County (new fiberoptic cable upgrade). This doesn't mean we can control system outages, but we will call the provider and keep you informed if there is an issue.
Power outages happen a few times a year; usually when we have big snow storms (late Jan- early Mar). They normally last a few hours. For overnight outages we can offer a generator to run heat and the fridge along with candles, or the option of a refund.
During late fall/winter hunting season, you may encounter a deer being dressed from the deer hanger, or fish being cleaned in the catfish shack during summer. There will occasionally be a tractor or two running during the day. Wear something orange (two vests are provided during hunting seasons) while exploring close to the property line at the top of the mountain during the first and last hours of daylight. We will notify you the day before if my husband or father-in-law (experienced hunters) plan to be in the woods.
We welcome all walks of life here, including dogs who get along well with other animals. Our dog, Silas, runs free and may try to follow you on your hikes. Just let us know if he is a pest. We look forward to meeting you and yours!

Family of 5. We loved the property, the hikes, the beautiful mountains. The people in town are so friendly. The kids loved the dog and zip line. Very peaceful!
Seriously the best rental I’ve ever stayed in! Our hosts were amazing and super friendly.
There was so much to do just in the property alone, and surrounded by peaceful woods.
Silos (the dog) was an extra bonus and was sooo friendly!
Really nice, relaxing stay. Our kids loved the zip line and we enjoyed the trails. It was super clean and welcoming. We had a great time! On a side note, the bed and pillows are insanely comfortable! Thank you
We stayed here before we dropped our son off at Virginia tech. Great place to stay! Clean, beautiful lodging with bonus hiking trails, fishing, zip lines and Silus the dog!
Beautiful property and cabin. The hosts were incredibly responsive and friendly. Silas was an added plus. Hopefully we will have another chance to stay here in the future.
Besutiful - reminds us of Ireland! Hope to visit again with our grandkids and stay longer. Lovely cabin and area to explore. The mountain spring water was rejuvenating and the owner's Aussie-doodle, Silas, stole our hearts! We highly recommend Heartwood for anyone who wants to experience one of the most beautiful pieces of God's creation!
Excellent location! Lots to do on the property and nearby. The hot tub was great. The beds were extremely comfortable! The owners were amazing and very helpful. We looked at some other rentals but are very happy with our choice and want to stay here again. Silas, the dog, was also a nice addition!
This was a last minute trip and I honestly didn’t have a whole lot of time to look at the listing before I booked it. I saw it had a hot tub and zip line and enough space for my family and that sold me.Check in was explained clearly. I did take a screen shot of the check in email, so I would have the information with us (we did not have cell service, so I was glad I did). The unit is on the second floor of the owners’ woodshed I believe. As you go up the stairs, there is a nice sized deck with rocking chairs and dining table and chairs for outdoor dining. The space was a bit smaller on the inside than the pictures made it look, but still plenty of room for us.One thing that would have been nice would be a pocket door or other way to have privacy between the bunk bed room and queen bed room. There is a door between the living/kitchen area and bedroom area, but no door between the bedrooms.Overall, we had a great time! The owners were nice and responsive to any need we had. The hot tub, zip line, playground, walking trails, and fishing pond were all available to use and we did enjoy all of the amenities.
The cabin had everything we needed…beautifully decorated and attention paid to details. The grounds were spectacular, great hikes, fun activities and the owners were warm and gracious. Thanks for providing a wonderful space to visit with our daughter, we enjoyed it immensely!
