Depending on where you're coming from, your journey to Tullahassee could be a piece of cake or it could drag on forever. We've compiled some tips that will help you start your next big adventure on the right foot. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a pleasure if you've got all the right things. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a spare pair of socks and a magazine or two. Secondly, find a spot in your bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, any medications and maybe a comfy neck pillow too. Lastly, and most importantly, be sure to take your passport, travel papers and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as spray paint, flares and gasoline, are also banned.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of your aircraft are not the place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and pack a cardigan as it can get chilly in the cabin on long-haul flights. Enclosed, flat shoes are also a good choice.
- Unfortunately, a risk of long-haul flights is developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by extended periods of inactivity. To avoid this, take every opportunity to walk around the cabin and stretch your legs. Compression tights and socks are another great idea to help lower your risk.
