Do you have any tips for my flight to Spring?
- Flying can be a stress-free experience if you've got all the right things. Firstly, you'll need basic toiletries, such as lip balm and hand cream, a clean set of clothes and a few magazines. Secondly, find a spot in your bag for your laptop, a charger, your important medications and maybe a quality neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, remember to bring your passport, travel papers and your credit cards.
- Squeeze all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) won't be allowed on. Sharp objects, like your Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are flammable or explosive, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and poisons, are also banned.
- Your top priority is to feel as comfortable as you can. Go for shoes that are easy to pull on and off, dress in loose, breathable clothing and don't forget to take a pullover in case you get chilly in the cabin.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a risk on long-haul flights. It results from blood clotting due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks or tights.
How to get through airport security fast when flying to Spring?
- Be sure to have your boarding pass and ID at hand. They'll be the first things you'll be asked for by security.
- The X-ray machine is up next. Remove anything metal on you that is likely to set off the scanner's alarm. This includes items like headphones or earphones, as well as your coat or jacket. They'll need to be placed on the conveyor belt for screening.
- Your electronic gadgets like laptops and phones will also need to go on a tray to be scanned. Don't worry, you'll be back online soon enough.
- Any gels or liquids, such as perfume or hand cream, that you want to take on board must be no greater than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres). Also, they all must fit inside a quart-size (one litre), clear zip-close bag.
- Choosing your footwear wisely can save you several valuable minutes. Hiking boots are often required to be removed and separately scanned. Lightweight sneakers usually aren't.
- Sharp items such as knives and scissors are prohibited in the cabin. They'll be seized at security, so put them in your checked luggage.
