• You'll want to choose comfort over style. Prepare for changes in temperature by dressing in layers, and opt for flat, enclosed shoes like slip-ons.
• Most travellers are aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clot condition caused by long periods of sitting. To reduce your risk on board, drink plenty of water, consider wearing compression tights or socks and move your lower limbs often.

• Your boarding pass and passport will need to be inspected by airport security. Keep them at hand to avoid fumbling around for them.
• Time to strip down. Well kind of. Your jacket, belt, keys and other items in your pocket, like your headphones, will be required to go through the X-ray machine. Make your life easier by removing them as your turn draws near.
• All your electronic devices, including your phone and laptop, must also be scanned separately.
• Any liquids or gels, such as toothpaste or perfume, that you want to bring on board must be no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres). They must also all fit inside a quart-size (one litre), clear zip-lock bag.
