We've got the lowdown on how to make your flight a pleasant experience. Follow our tips and tricks and you'll be hightailing it through the airport and seeing the best of Merino in no time at all. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Air travel can be a great experience if you take the right gear. First things first, you'll need toiletry items, such as deodorant and a toothbrush, a clean set of clothes and a magazine or two. Secondly, find room in your hand luggage for your phone, tablet and chargers, your medications and perhaps a neck pillow as well. Last, but definitely not least, remember to bring your passport, travel docs and your credit cards.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Check carefully that you don't have sharp objects (like a knife or scissors) hiding in one of the compartments of your carry-on luggage. Other restricted items include flammable or explosive products, such as aerosol cans and fuel, and liquids and gels in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters).
What to wear on a flight:
- The best way to ensure a comfortable flight often lies in your choice of clothing. Prepare for temperature changes by bringing layers. That way you'll stay nice and warm if the cabin begins to cool down. Shoes like flip flops and heels are best left in your checked suitcase. Even though they may be your favourites, opt for flat, closed-toed footwear like sneakers. Your feet will thank you later.
- The serious condition by the name of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) is a potential risk on long-haul flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation. Doing leg and foot exercises while seated is a great way to prevent this developing. Wearing a quality pair of compression socks is also recommended.
