How to survive the flight to Bali?
We’ve rounded up all the info you need to make your flight as stress-free as possible. Follow our tips and you’ll be breezing through airport security and seeing the best of Bali in no time at all. What to pack in your hand luggage:

  • Flying can be a stress-free experience if you carry the right things. Firstly, you’ll want a few basic toiletry items, such as a toothbrush and hairbrush, a spare change of clothes and a few magazines. Secondly, find room in your bag for your phone, tablet and chargers, any vital medications and perhaps a cosy neck pillow as well. Lastly, and most importantly, remember to bring your passport, travel papers and your credit cards.

Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:

  • Put all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked luggage. Any gels or liquids in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by authorities. Sharp or pointed objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and dangerous products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and fuels, are also banned.

What to wear on a flight:

  • The narrow aisles of your plane are not the best place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and take a cardigan as it tends to get cool in the cabin on long-haul flights. Enclosed, flat shoes are always a good idea too.
  • Unfortunately, a risk of flying long distances is developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis), a blood clot condition caused by prolonged inactivity. To prevent this, make the most of every opportunity to wander around the cabin. Compression tights and socks are another great idea to help minimize this risk.

How to get through airport security fast when flying to Bali?
As seasoned travellers know, the secret is to be well organised before you get to the security gate. That way, you’ll be boarding that plane to Bali in the blink of an eye. Follow these tips and get your holiday off to a terrific start:

  • Security personnel first need to verify that you have a valid ID and matching travel documents before you can proceed any further. Have them ready for inspection.
  • Time to strip down. Well kind of. Your coat, belt, keys and other small items, like your headphones, will need to go through the X-ray machine. Make your life easier by removing them before your turn.
  • Your electronic devices like laptops and phones will also have to go through the machine for inspection. Don’t worry, you’ll be back online before you know it.
  • Can’t travel without your favourite hand cream? As long as it’s in a container no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and it’s stored in a zip-close bag, you can keep it with you in your carry-on luggage.
  • Slip-on shoes are a good footwear choice as you’re less likely to be required to remove them when going through security. Hiking boots and other heavy shoes are often subjected to extra screening.
  • Airlines won’t allow any sharp or pointed objects in the cabin. If you must bring these kinds of items, pack them in your checked luggage.
