Do you have any tips for my flight to Bali?
We've rounded up all the info you need to make your flight as pain-free as possible. Follow our insider tips and you'll be cruising through the airport and discovering Bali before you know it. What to pack in your hand luggage:

  • It's easy — first, pack in your passport, travel docs, bank cards and medications. Next, you'll need some entertainment to while away the hours. A juicy novel and a phone crammed with your favourite shows are some terrific options. If you intend to take a short nap, a neck pillow and a pair of noise-cancelling headphones will also come in handy. Finally, squeeze in a toothbrush and some deodorant so you'll touchdown feeling fresh and raring to go.

Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:

  • Put all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and hair gel in your checked luggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) will be confiscated. Sharp or pointed objects, like a Swiss Army knife, and dangerous goods which are flammable or explosive, such as flares, bleaching agents and fuels, are also restricted.

What to wear on a flight:

  • The aisles of a plane are no place for a fashion parade. Don comfortable layers and choose shoes that are closed-toe, flat and easy to remove.
  • Caused by prolonged periods of inactivity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clotting condition that can affect passengers during long-haul flights. Lower your risks by staying hydrated, keeping your legs and feet moving and wearing compression socks to help improve your circulation.

How to get through airport security fast when flying to Bali?
It's easy — be prepared. We've pulled together some useful tips for a speedy trip through security. Look out Bali, here you come:

  • Be sure to keep your passport and travel documents handy. They're the first items you'll be asked for by security.
  • Next up, both you and your hand luggage must be X-rayed. To make the process quick and painless, take off anything that is likely to set the alarm off. Personal belongings like your belt, coat and headphones will be required to go through the machine.
  • For just a few moments, you'll need to unplug from technology. Your tablet, phone and any other electronic gadgets will need to go through the scanner.
  • Remove gels and liquids from your carry-on bag. They often need to be sent through the X-ray machine separately. Each product should be no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) and everything must fit in a quart-size (one litre), clear zip-close bag.
  • There's a chance you'll be asked to remove your shoes to be X-rayed, so wearing lightweight sneakers is always a clever idea.
  • Airlines will not allow any sharp objects in the cabin. If you need to bring these kinds of items, pack them safely in your checked luggage.
