Waterfront home on Fife Lake
The Lake Cabins Resort provides a rustic getaway with modern amenities for your hiking, biking or boating vacation. The resort accommodations include the Lake House and 6 log cabins. along with complimentary use of our kayaks and paddle boards. Our resort has 100 ft. of beachfront along all sport, 617 acre Fife Lake, which is known for its great fishing and water sports. A short drive to Traverse City, Kalkaska and Cadillac put Fife Lake in the center of it all, with the Boardman River to the north and the Manistee River to the south. Whether you are looking for a getaway for two, or a place to host a large gathering, The Lake Cabins Resort has something to fit your needs.
The resort was built in the early 40’s and has lots of local history with the people and families that have enjoyed the resort in years past. We have restored the full log cabins with new kitchens and many upgrades that make for a great vacation spot. Fife Lake was voted best inland lake in northern Michigan in 2014.
Our pristine beach is a great place to relax and soak up some sun. You can feel comfortable with the kids swimming off our beach as the water is shallow to the end of our dock. Boat rentals are available should you wish to tour the lake and find the eagles nests or loon’s nests. Beach area is closed the last weekend in September. Docks are removed for the winter.
The house is 4 bedrooms and 2 baths with a full kitchen upstairs and downstairs with a maximum accommodation of 12 guest for the home.

Great spot, beautiful and peaceful with amazing lake views
We stayed in the lake house which is 4 bedroom 2 bath with 6 adults and 5 kids. Very comfortable stay with two pull out couches on each floor plus one room had a bunk bed. Great patio area to sit out with a drink at sunset with a beach area below and a firepit for marshmellows. We really had a grear time and our hosts were really wonderful. Plus a great location within 30 minutes of a lot of sites and Traverse City.
This was my second time at this property! We had a rather large group, but the space provided was perfect.
Leading up to our stay all of our questions were answered in a timely fashion.
My older children had areived before me and they were greeted and treated so well before we got there ourselves.
There were a few small hiccups, but they were addressed and fixed w/o any hesitation. And that left us to be able to enjoy our trip.
We had an absolute blast!!
We are already booked for next year!!
We were very pleased with the location and amenities of the property. My suggestions for improving are to clean up the grounds by pulling/ spraying weeds and use a blower on the steps to the beach. Upgrade the furniture in living rooms... those futons are not very comfortable for TV watching. Paint the heater in upstairs bathroom and also the vanity. We enjoyed our stay and appreciate being there to enjoy the beautiful lake.
Love this property and this lake. Kids swam about 12 hours a day, rented the pontoon available and spent the day on the water, close to tourist options for day trips but plenty to do on the property.
Fife lake is a family friendly area with the lake small and shallow enough to be great for kids. The guest house was large enough to sleep everyone in the family making it a great experience!
We took a few days with just our family before our oldest son headed off to college. We could not have asked for a more enjoyable and relaxing few days to spend together. The house was very clean and the owners are wonderful!
My family group first time in Fife lake and it couldn't be better. We had a great time in the main house which was perfect for our 12 people group. The house has amazing views of the lake and it is comfortable and well equipped. We did kayaking and paddle boarding. Jeff was a great host!
We rented a cabin and the lake house for our extended family. The view and the lake were wonderful. The host was very helpful and responsive, staying right in the property in one of the cabins. The ductless air conditioning worked great. Very quiet, but very efficient. Plenty to do on the lake, but quite far from “tourist” towns for exploring. The cabin was very basic, but provided the extra beds and toilet we needed.
Views of Fife Lake were fantastic...beauty, serenity, and relaxing. Having morning coffee from one of the 2 railed decks is a great way to start the day peacefully. Then let the fun begin ...fishing from either the boat, dock or kayak is great for any age. Take a morning walk or bike ride, paddle board for exercise with nature, take a dip or use the kayak for that purpose.
All of the amenities come with your stay. Plenty of beach/firepit chairs for the whole gang and more. All the dishes, pots & pans and silverware you would ever need and a grill for your outside BBQ's. The house also has plenty of linen for your stay.
One other nice feature is the opportunity to rent their pontoon for an afternoon and motor around the lake to watch the loons or catch a view of the Eagles located at the treetops of one of the 2 islands on the lake.
It is rather pricey and portions of the house could use some updating but we are aleady talking about renting it again!
This is a perfect place for kids, grandkids and grandparents all to get together for Family fun and memories.
The lake was very relaxing and peaceful. Our granddaughters enjoyed fishing with grandpa and dad. We enjoyed boating and enjoyed the pontoon as well. Weather was good for the most part. On days we couldn't be outside we enjoyed baking and playing games. We had a great time creating memories with our family. The week went way to fast. The owners were great. Thanks for pointing us to the eagle nest !
Jeff and Beckey's property was perfect for our family reunion. We rented the house and all of the cabins and each family had their own space - it was perfect. The house and cabins have everything you need and everything was spotless! We spent lots of time swimming in the lake, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The little kids had fun playing in the beach and shallow water area. The outside area around the cabins was perfect for eating meals together, outdoor movie night, 80's night, and talking around the fire pit. We ventured into Traverse City and visited the Sleeping Bear Dunes national park. We highly recommend this property!
The property was Beautiful. We enjoyed the boat and kyaks very much. Would love to come and stay at this property again.
Jeff was so helpful and was always there to answer our questions.
We booked for 6 adults and 3 kids under 5. House was big enough for all of us comfortably. We were sad to learn on check in that the A/C in the main living area went out shortly before we came because of a storm and wouldn't be fixed. REst of house (bedrooms and lower level had A/C. Owners were kind enough to grant a small refund due tho this inconvenience. It did get extremely hot the week we were there and couldnt use that area of the cabin from late afternoon until morning, so we appreciated the gesture. We had been told before arrival tht rental boat was also out due to a repair needed. WE were able to rent a very nice boat through H2O sports and that was wonderful. We would definitely consider renting again, the lake location is a hidden gem.
