  • Welcome to The Lake Cabins Resort! Built in the early 1940s, our resort is steeped in local history and offers a perfect blend of rustic getaway charm and modern amenities.

    Please Note: The resort consists of two separate rental options: The Lake House and the 6 individual log cabins. This listing is specifically for the rental of Cabin 2.

    Resort Amenities & Waterfront
    The Beach: Enjoy 100 feet of pristine beachfront on the all-sports, 617-acre Fife Lake—voted the best inland lake in Northern Michigan. The water is shallow right off our dock, making it a comfortable spot for kids to swim.

    Water Sports: Guests enjoy complimentary use of our kayaks and paddleboards. Boat rentals are also available for experienced boaters if you'd like to cruise the lake to spot local eagles and loon nests.

    Seasonal Note: The beach area closes the last weekend in September, and docks are removed for the winter.

    Accommodations:
    Cabin 2 has two bedrooms plus one futon that convert to double beds. It is approximately 350 square feet and comfortably sleeps up to four adults or up to six guests if some are smaller children.

    The Log Cabins: Fully restored authentic log cabins featuring updated, modern kitchens and premium upgrades—ideal for couples or smaller families looking for a cozy retreat.

    The Location
    Fife Lake sits right in the center of Northern Michigan’s best outdoor recreation. We are located just a short drive from Traverse City, Kalkaska, and Cadillac, with the Boardman River running to our north and the Manistee River to our south. Whether you are looking for hiking, biking, boating, or world-class fishing, you are right in the heart of it all.

Very kind hosts. Cute rustic cabin with Fife lake a few steps away. Quiet location and relaxing environment. The space is a little tight with shower situation a bit of getting used to, but manageable. Will try one of the larger cabins in the future. Walk to town with a breakfast place, Loon’s Nest, down the street. Definitely recommend their delicious homemade cranberry walnut bread.

Love this place! Second year of staying here and the owners are so great! Very clean and nice for families. The water is far enough away so you are not super paranoid all the time if you are traveling with little kids :) Highly recommend!

We were greeted by the very friendly owner almost as soon as we arrived! It was a very cozy and quiet area in an adorable town. We received a complimentary upgrade to a larger cabin with a view of beautiful Fife Lake!We got take out dinners from one of the local restaurants and it was excellent!!!! Overall wonderful weekend!

Wonderful rustic cabin stay with beautiful lake

This was our first time staying in the cabins on Fife lake and we will definitely be back. It is a nice area to relax and enjoy the view of the lake. The cabins were as described, quaint with just the basics of what you need. The free kayaks were our favorite amenity. Just to note, the bathrooms are really small so if you have kids, the entire bathroom floor will be wet from showers but we didnt mind too much since we enjoyed the rest of the cabin and lake so much. The host were very friendly and helpful and made our stay just perfect.

Fife Lake Family Time

We stayed here July 5-8 of 2023 because our son was in the Traverse City Cherry Festival Parade. It was 1/2 hr. from Traverse City but so much less expensive. We LOVED our stay here. The cabin was cute and clean and the resort as a whole was very charming. We loved coming back to the cabin after a long day in the city for some R&R. The cabin had everything we needed and it was nice to cook some meals there to save money. The lake was close and beautiful. There is also a great ice cream place right down the road! We will definitely stay here again if our son is in the parade next year. We can't wait!

Very nice cabin and property. The host , Becky, greeted us when we got there. She was very friendly. The cabin was very clean and had a great view of the lake. Quiet and relaxing.
