Everything was very good, but the staff was the best! They made sure we were comfortable as we were traveling with a small toddler. They noticed details and were very flexible. They also have a sister hotel that is excellent too. (Palais Houyam).
Rude owners/staff, may not honor your reservation!
WARNING! Do not trust the owners of this Riad, who also own Riad Louna and Jardin Chirfa. I booked 3 nights at Tahra, and upon my arrival I was told there was a problem and could not stay (=somebody else offered more for the room so they gave it away, I bet). I was put in an inferior room at Jardin Chirfa (very noisy, smells like sewer, old tiny shower, no hot water in sink, etc). I spent the 2nd night at Tahra, but I was told that I would have to move for the third night because they did not have my reservation and somebody else was coming. Even after hotels.com emailed them the reservation again, they refused to honor it. Long story short, instead of trying to please me, they promised and then reneged on a discount, and argued with me. They were rude and unprofessional, and put me in the even worse and older/noisier Riad Louna (don't believe the pictures). Forget customer satisfaction! I left and found a much friendlier and more decent Riad. Skip them: they do not deserve your business. The worse of Morocco.
Très belle restauration dans les règles de l'art, mosaïques, stuc, cuivre...Personnel à l'écoute, félicitations à Mohamed, Fatima ainsi qu'aux autres pour leur professionnalisme...lieu fort agréable et cuisine délicate !

Disliked: Staff & service, room comfort
Understaffed and poorly managed
They didn't answer phone calls or emails. They had my arrival as the next day, so put me in another riad for first night at lower price point but charged me for original. They wanted payment right away in cash (nothing on web site about it), took me to ATMs (which don't work if ATM card has a chip like mine). Finally ended up accepting my credit card for payment 2 days later but threatened to "move" me to another hotel. Bed was rock hard, and another guest told me same for his. All the real work done by Mimid, who was there 7/7, and the cook. Manager and owner not around much, manager had temper tantrums when things went wrong, owner said all hotels and trains wouldn't accept credit cards, not true (I held onto spending money in case I needed it to leave Morocco so couldn't buy some gifts.) Fez is great but not Riad Tahra (or Riad Louna, same owners). Everyone else in Fez was really nice, including Mimid, but not the manager and owner.
