"Portugal and it's people are gentle and kind. We have visited many times and love it north to south. Tucked away at the end of a bumpy dirt road is a real gem. "Beautiful hotel sensitively converted but rooms were somewhat spartan compared to others in the hotel group. There is air conditioning and a tv in the room, and I appreciate it is a monks cell. Initially there was no hot water ( I thought it was to enhance the monastic experience) until I realised it was turned off under the sink because the tap dripped.
