A bit dated and worn (threadbare armchairs), belying the photos online, with a very minimally equipped kitchen (great microwave with crisping feature though!). But, the front desk and housekeeping staff were very responsive and quickly fixed any deficiencies. We were disappointed to find out on arrival that the AC was out of order (a long-standing problem about which we could have been notified to allow a decision to relocate), however a fan was provided, and with a balcony door and windows that opened the room temperature was comfortable. Location was great - a half hour walk to the Viaduct Quay and Ferry Terminal in one direction, and the Auckland Domain in the other, with a huge selection of shops and restaurants along both routes. Overall: clean, safe, very spacious room, conveniently located, and excellent value for the price. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

The staff was fantastic, from the valet, reception, wait staff and to the cleaning staff. All were very attentive and professional. Our room exceeded our expectations. The location of the hotel could not have been better. It was in the heart of the of the Central Business and Sky City Entertainment districts with the Auckland Harbor an easy walk to catch a ferry to neighboring islands, Casino was just across the street. If there is one area of improvement or change, I would suggest their restaurant offer the option to order breakfast via a menu rather than just a breakfast buffet as the only option if you wanted to have breakfast in the restaurant. There were however, several restaurants near by that offered made to order breakfasts. On my next trip to Auckland, I will be returning to The Grand by Sky City, I highly recommend this hotel.
