  • K'gari (Fraser Island) is accessible by 4WD only and a Vehicle Access Permit will be required from QPWS BEFORE arriving on the island. You need a 4WD to access the island and onto the barges, so you won't be able to stay at The Taxi House unless you have a 4WD

    FRASER ISLAND

    All roads on K'Gari (Fraser Island) are sand roads as well as driving along the beach so you will require a 4WD to board the barge before even arriving to the island.

    Eurong is central (and not tide relevant) to a number of the most beautiful lakes (eg Lake McKenzie, Lake Birrabeen, Lake Boomanjin, Lake Wabby), lush rainforests (eg Central Station) and pure crystal clear creeks (eg palm and fern lined Central Station (Wanggoolba Creek), and the numerous bushwalking trails.
    You can enjoy the beauty of the island ranging from desert-like sandblows, unique and awe-inspiring lakes, exploring the many scenic drives on the island, 4WD adventures, and along the eastern beach some attractions are Eli Creek, the shipwreck of the Maheno, Indian Head and Champagne Pools, the coloured sands and all the way to the lighthouse at the far northern tip of the island. During your stay you may get to experience and see some of the wonderful wildlife on the island including turtles, whales, dolphins, stingrays, sharks, dingoes (said to be Australia's purest), and the wonderful birdlife.

    *We, Steve and Lisa, live in a small cottage at the back of the property, with a separate entrance and do not share any of the house facilities. We will always be happy to share our extensive knowledge of the island with you!

The Taxi House was amazing!!! The house is large enough for a couple of families or a group like we had. Plenty of bedrooms with the 2 sleepouts. Nice sized kitchen & being in Eurong 2nd valley, it was super close to the resort for food options if/when required & is also close to the access for the inland tracks. The house was clea & tidy. The area is very quiet so great to sit back & relax. Easy walk to the beach for fishing.

Great end to a camping trip

Hi Lisa thank you for letting us stay, after a week of camping this place was exactly what we needed to just unwind, have some conform for a few days ready and chill with friends without having to unpack all the camping gear. Great location nice quaint place will stay again everything was easy going

Lovely stay on K'gari

We had a good stay here. The host is lovely and has great communication. The 'sleep-outs' are inside the building, they are more like mini-bedrooms without doors. This is a nice budget property with a well equipped kitchen and great water heat and pressure in the shower (note no microwave or electric kettle in kitchen - all heating is gas due to eco electricity supply). There are some maintenance issues, and the outside is a but messy, but the owner is working on them.

It was clean and nice. Good place to stay. However on the last night it was raining and the roof in the main bedroom had a leak. With tiles as floor it was very slippery. The power also went out during the night. I wrote to Lisa to get her view before rating but she did not reply.

Property needs work and alot of it, but location was excellent

Great location, Eurong is perfect spot for all. House was not like we thought from internet, so much work to be done to bring to a decent standard, unbearably hot and uncomfortable ( no air ) and only ceiling fans in two rooms. So much so we spent most of our time out front on camp chairs where sea breeze was fabulous. Furnishings below average - we appreciate they are to be upgraded in New Year but it should not have been let that way, but property manager did her best to make the situation best she could for us. Thanks Lisa Would i stay there again def not. Sadly as if this property has decent facilities we would have revisited for sure. Will we return to K'Gari again absolutely we will.

Wasnt as advertised but still good stay

Check in was from 2pm, we were there at 1:50- waited past 2pm, We called owner and she rocked up about 2:15. She then had to clean it and look through the place. By the time we got into property it was almost 3pm. The house was clean enough, but all the dishes were dirty, we had to wash everything. We were then notified the pool had a leak, it was quite a large leak, which we felt would have been picked up earlier. Lisa chucked a hose in, but it was filthy. So no real use. Disappointed. For what we paid for the two nights we would have liked it fully up to standards.Aside from that its a great location and quick walk to the pub!
