Located in Southbank, along the Yarra River, this residential tower rises 297 metres above the city of Melbourne. It also offers top-quality dining. The tower gets its name from the Eureka Rebellion by the Victoria gold miners in 1854, where they rose up in battle against taxation and licence fees imposed by central government which they felt were unfairly high. This event has come to be highly symbolic in Australian culture of the need to resist abuses of authority. The rebellion is commemorated in the design of Eureka Tower, with gold and red at the top of the building symbolising the miners and the blood that was spilled. The blue and white of the tower represent the Eureka flag, which has taken on iconic status in Australian culture.Skydeck 88 is the most exciting attraction in the tower, offering stunning views across the city and its many parks, Port Phillip Bay, and the Dandenong Mountains. Fly up to the 88th floor in lifts travelling at nine metres per second – the fastest in the Southern Hemisphere – and use interactive viewfinders to learn more about the city laid out below you.Going out onto the terrace is the next step, and if you have a head for heights you can venture out into The Edge, a glass cube suspended out from the side of Skydeck 88, and experience the feeling of floating hundreds of feet in the air. If you haven't had enough of life in the stratosphere, you can enjoy dinner at the Eureka 89 restaurant. As the name suggests, it can be found one level up from Skydeck 88, and serves sumptuous meals from Wednesday through Saturday.Eureka Tower can be found in the Southbank district of Melbourne, across the Yarra River from the downtown area. It's a ten-minute walk from Federation Square, and there is a pay car park under the tower. There are individual admission prices for Skydeck 88 and for the Edge, and they are open daily.

5/5 - Excellent
Had previously been during the day but decided to go at night - WOW!!!!! A must do :D
4/5 - Good
Not a place to go if you suffer with claustrophobia or vertigo. The building and lifts sway in the wind, it's not a pleasant sensation and actually made me ill. It was too crowded and hot inside. The view was great when you could get to the windows.
