Although ideally located I was surprised to discover on arrival at circa 1800h on a Sunday evening that no food was available and worse still they have stopped serving breakfast altogether. I found out about the lack of breakfast on reading a notice pinned to the inside of the door to the room. I was told that The Bear have been unable to amend their website!!! Despite being invited to check in online I did not receive any notification about the lack of catering. There were no alternative food options in Burwash on the evening but The Royal George/Eurasia Kitchen in Hurst Green made an exception and provided me with an excellent meal of Beef in Pepper Sauce with Egg Fried Rice, which saved the day.

The Bear is a wonderful property with beautiful views of East Sussex. The staff is kind and helpful and the pub atmosphere was wonderful, too! I highly recommend this property if you will be visiting this part of East Sussex!

The motel seems to be secondary to the pub activities. We never saw anyone after the initial book in. It was relatively inexpensive so i guess u get what u pay for
