Home was exactly as described! Owner was super helpful with food recommendations and things to do in the area. Very responsive with all communications. House was perfectly located to get to surrounding areas and Essex was a cute town to explore. If we are back in the area we would certainly look to stay here again!
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at this lovely home very much. We walked into town several times as the weather was beautiful. Our contact person checked in with us pretty much every day to ask if we needed anything. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again should the need arise.

Great House
House was wonderful for our trip, 4 adults, plenty of room for everyone. Beautiful kitchen, fast WiFi and very clean. The bedrooms had lots of room and beds comfortable. The large patio with nice patio furniture was enjoyed by everyone in our family. Thanks for a great house for our trip!
House was exactly as pictured. New England charm in a great locations. Beautifully landscaped private backyard was a big bonus. Host was great and very attentive with help and suggestions.
My family and I went for a quick trip. The home was close to a lot of activities. Perfect for our needs. Large garden yard made evenings enjoyable outdoors. Loved the cheese shop around the corner and Essex was a delight.

All bedrooms up were difficult with luggage.
Fully equipped for an extended stay would be convenient.
Very close to marina and shopping.
This is the second time I have stayed at this property with my pups. Absolutely a real gem. Very private backyard and the property provided all the amenities of home. Super location to historic Essex and many other local sites. Host was accommodating and easy to work with.
Sitting at the entrance to essex this shabby chic cape cod cottage was perfectly clean and charming. Fully equipped and stocked with a nice brick patio to have fun dinners on. A quick drive to main steet essex and shops and restaurants. An ideal location, cute cottage and very well kept make it a great couples or family getaway for the essex area. Highly recommended
Nicely decorated and very comfortable older 2 BR house near the cute little village of Essex. Very large yard and beautiful outdoor furniture. Typical of the house’s vintage, stairs to bedrooms are very steep and slick so bring slippers or grippy socks.

Me and my significant other had an amazing stay at The Historic Essex Home w/ Large Yard Near Downtown!. Lovisa and Gene were incredibly helpful and polite, going above and beyond to ensure our stay in Essex was enjoyable. The home was such a lovely spot – quiet, comfortable, and perfectly situated near delightful local shops. The cheese shop, in particular, was a highlight for my significant other! The house was so quaint and comfy you'll feel right at home. Everything was within easy walking distance, and we felt so safe – it truly felt like a home away from home.
Very comfortable and as pictured and described in other reviews. Note that the fan must be on when you shower. We made the mistake not to, and the steam set off the fire alarm just outside the bathroom door. Otherwise no mishaps and we would gladly return.

Nice weekend getaway!
This small house was perfect for our weekend getaway to see a concert at The Kate in Old Saybrook, just 11 miles away. From the house, we also explored the town of Essex, Old Saybrook, Niantic and Olde Mistick Village. There were 3 of us, and we had plenty of room. The house is exactly as pictured, and we very much appreciated the text from Gino before our arrival, including lock box details and their raising the heat before we arrived. There was a great selection of coffee pods for the Keurig, plus tea bags, the small bags of Pepperidge Farm cookies was a nice touch too. While we really didn't use the kitchen during our short stay, it is equipped with everything one could need.As is stated in the listing, the staircase that goes up to the bedrooms is very steep indeed. We had no issues with it. There were plenty of blankets, pillows and towels. Even though the house is directly across from the fire station, it was nice and quiet. When I asked, Gino/Stacy provided us with great suggestions for dinner restaurants for before our concert. We ended up at Liv's Oyster Bar and Restaurant and it was wonderful. The food is yummy and the employees are very friendly. All in all, it was a great weekend getaway, and we thank Gino and Stacy for being so attentive.
Loved our stay! The place was super clean, comfy bed, and very relaxing. We enjoyed sitting outside in the garden and the close proximity to downtown Essex was great!! Definitely plan to return!
