I searched for the best hotel in Escanaba on a last minute trip through the Upper Peninsula and the Subset Lodge came up. It didn’t disappoint. I felt like I was staying in someone’s home— it was clean, neat and had a lot of creature comforts. It was safe, convenient to town and offered a comfortable respite in the middle of a long drive. The family restaurant next door was a welcome place for breakfast and offered a great meal before hitting the road.

Thank you! Your staff are very friendly. I saw the woman who cleans the rooms the next morning. She seemed very happy & was friendly as well. I like how clean & updated the rooms are. Great job! Very nice!! The bed & pillows were almost too comfortable! I have a bad back and your bed allowed me to sleep restfully the WHOLE night and I did NOT want to climb out in the morning. Lol! We will definitely stay again next time we are in the area, plus will recommend to family & friends that might be in the area as well! Again, thank you, for a restful sleep. -Isabella-

Nice stay - would recommend
Check-in was pleasant, easy and nice. Nice space for dog to go to the bathroom, clean area. Clean room. Lots of tv channel options. Shower is smallish and water flow on lower side but worked fine! Bed was a little firm and heat, even though we turned down, is kind of noisy while kicking in and left us dry feeling in the morning. Overall really nice stay and a nice kept up place!

The room was clean, comfortable and cozy. Beds were memory foam and worked great for getting a good night's sleep. We had a good size fridge in the room and the microwave warmed up anything we wanted. Bathrooms are all new with a big shower and nice towels. Don't forget to bring a hairdryer if ya require one. Friendly people work there so you'll enjoy dealing with them during your stay. Great place for the price so I'll be staying there again!

Thank you for your feedback. Maintenance went into the room and plunged the toilet. The television is working. It's possible there was a cable outage that evening. Hot water does take a few minutes due to the distance from the supply tank. Letting us know when problems arise allows us to assist you if needed.

This property is an updated throwback to the roadside motels of the 50's. The deskperson (owner?) was very helpful. The room was updated with wood look flooring and fresh decor. The bed was VERY firm. (maybe too firm.) Overall a great stay in an area with limited options. A neat Up North experience.

Nice motel with clean and comfortable rooms. The beds were comfortable and had plenty of pillows. The room was clean and had a small area to sit along with a mini frig. The bathroom was clean with a nice big shower and plenty of towels. this is right along side a busy road and you can hear the traffic noises in the room, but that is not the hotel's fault- it's just the location. Restaurant next door was decent and easy to walk to. Parking was adequate. Personnel were friendly, helpful, and personable. I would stay here again and would recommend this place to others.

Exceptionally clean. Recently updated rooms. My only complaint is that I could not control the temperature in the room even though the remote appeared to be working. Not a big problem!

It was a basic room, but it was clean and had the necessities. The fridge was cold instead of just barely cool like some i have experienced in more expensive hotels.The staff was very friendly, and when I asked what sights were around, I was given a great suggestion that ended up being amazing. It is conveniently located just off the highway, yet I wasn’t disturbed by traffic noise. The restaurant next door had very tasty home cooking. This is the second time I have stayed there when I have visited the UP, and to me, it’s the best value around.

It is located on a busy road, but we knew that when we booked. Clean, efficient, and good value. Not bad for a road-side motel. Bathroom had some issues. The lights flickered and the shower head leaked, but the actual shower was good. Great family restaurant right next door. Great breakfast.

We really loved staying here. Very clean and friendly for an older motel. The only issues were with the noise from the main road it's on and the hardness of the water. If you're a light sleeper, the road noise could be a problem. Otherwise, I would highly recommend staying here
